Why are MOST PC gamers full of so much hatred towards Consoles?

Usually in most threads you come across, full of PC gamers (fanboys, if you will) and Console gamers, it always turns into a gigantic flame war on what is better.

One thing that i always did notice is that the PC gamers are usually the ones to start the whole war. It almost seems like they get enjoyment out of starting pointless arguments and debates. Big deal, you paid nearly 1 grand, maybe more just so you can game with a mouse and a keyboard. Paying more for your gaming situation gives you no excuse to talk down on people who pay less for their gaming set ups (I.e console gamers).

I also see no legitimate reasons being stated as to why they hate console gaming. They just start bringing up the whole "Specs vs Specs" debate, and never state factual statements on why they hate/dislike consoles/console gamers.

Why can't you enjoy both? I'm a console gamer/ex PC gamer, but i enjoyed both without bad mouthing on or the other.

I respect both console and PC gamers highly, and i honestly don't see why there always has to be a pointless argument over which is better.

Both platforms have pros and cons, along with excellent games. Some fantastic games are on the PC which are not cross-platform. Some Fantastic games are on the console which are also exclusive.

Thanks for reading, and i hope you do respect this post as a form of ones opinion.

Consoles are great ... however, console shooters are not.
Aim assistance is the greatest disgrace to have ever been made popular, and I'm counting all the weird stuff from Japan.

Usually it doesn't unless someone starts by saying "Why are PC gamers full of so much hatred..."

1) Because we aren't.
2) Because neither are you
3) Because the PC can do somethings better than a console and the console can do things easier than a PC...that's the point of them not fighting for the same market.

I'd suggest you take a quick look back through the history of this forum for every week this topic has come up, and then ask if your initial wording wasn't slightly...aggressive?

Because people want to feel superior.

I bought a PC therefore the PC is clearly the best for everything.

I bought a console therefore consoles are clearly superior to PCs.

It's all bullshit anyway...

I don't understand, don't most people play games on both? I know I do. I will say one thing, I enjoy shooters on console games more because you can't really use zomg aimbots, wallhax, etc on a console. At least you know no one is cheating.

That being said, moddable games are WAY better on PC (I'm looking at you Oblivion). And if Warcraft 3 were a console game no one would've played it after the first 2 years (I still play DotA on it).

This forum does not cover the entire internet.

I have seen literally dozens of flame wars all over different forums, and websites.

This forum is more mature and friendly compared to others, so i brought the intelligent discussion here.

well generally most pc gamers build their pc, so they tend to take a bit of pride in it

(this goes for everything, but pc's generally are a bit more into it)

so defending your choice comes naturally to humans, trying to justify their purchase/creation over yours.

oh and fyi OP i only spent roughly 800 on my computer and it runs everything on max and probably will for a while, so im sure your "grand" comment will get a lot of flack from major pc fanboys.

i would agree on some of that overall, but i have definitely seen some dumb pro console people ignite arguements these past couple months...so can't agree on some of it.

I dont give a shit, I dont see why more people see it this way. Its my same feeling for the console war between the PS3, 360, and Wii.

Simply put: consoles have caused games to be dumbed down over the generations. If I wanted to do nothing but spend twenty hours pulling a trigger to cause loud noises, I'd go to a gun range. What a concept, eh? PC gamers discovered the greatness of FPS games in the nineties. We were ready to move on ten years ago. But unfortunately, soccer moms, frat boys, and children under ten all decided to pick that time to get into gaming and ruin it for the rest of us.

But truthfully, we also just plain enjoy watching console gamers squirm when they realize the limitations of their chosen platform. Always a riot.
To answer your question OP, this is why. Guys like this who believe consoles have "RUINED GAMING 4EVAR!!1!"

It's bullshit. Consoles have simply made gaming more accessible and mainstream. Anyone who says otherwise is a troll, an idiot or a twelve year old who always gets his way. Or any combination thereof.

Because we all know that PC is superior, yet we try to argue how consoles can do everything better when it comes to gaming.

In the end will be talking about how expensive PC are or why all the games today are made for consoles. And Pirates. You cant have an arguement without pirates.

Edit: Oh, so now its an opinion? You're fighting facts with preferences? FINE! Lets just roll with that.

Techsavveis VS. Facebook bloggers. Gaming is now about being hipster.

Im sure there is hacking being done on the consoles also. Maybe not as bad (if it is that bad) as on PC, but still its being done.

Secondly, yeah, Oblivion sucked without mods on PC. Heres to hoping for TESV benot being screwed up like IV.

I'm not full of hatred towards any type of gamer. I have all three consoles and a great gaming PC and I play games on all of them.

Not all PC players "hate" console players. Most PC gamers I have met don't hate console players. Please don't look at a few trolls and assume that's what all PC gamers think. I have nothing against consoles. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that a gamepad is BETTER than any type of keyboard when it comes to platforming games and most racing games (But I still prefer a Keyboard for any FPS of any sort, and I can't play an RTS with a gamepad. You just can't)

Console games and PC games are fun, and if you exclude yourself from either type of game, then you're only hurting yourself.

But you started off with a slur against PC users. How do you think they'd react to that?

How about "Why are people so defensive about their own choice of machine?"

Because that's going to be a discussion, what you've created here is an argument.

Most console gamers would disagree with your statement. But not I. I choose to be reasonable instead of making my self look like an ass.

Most PC gamers hate Console FPS's because they think it takes no skill because of Auto-aim, etc. But it's actually more complex than it seems, and it is actually skillful in many ways. Console gamers notice this because they are regulars to console gaming. Most PC gamers don't because they are not regulars to console gaming. It works vice verse and so on and so forth.

The PC gamers that only play on the PC, can't really make comparison and judgement calls on whats better. All they see is the FPS that they play with a mouse and keyboard, which requires somewhat skill, but they don't see the Console side from a clear point of view.

Console FPS's are not just "Hold down trigger and spray bullets BOOM HEADSHOT i am leet". Even with auto-aim most FPS's take skill. Not any regular average joe can just pick up a controller and become pro, because they have aim assist. It takes good reflexes, situational awareness, somewhat decent aiming skills, and etc and so on.

In fact, most games actually give the user a option to turn off auto-aim controls. I have done this before, and i will say without auto-aim in such games as Halo, playing the game is near impossible.

Example: Try to kill one of your team mates in Halo. There is no auto aim effect, and it is extremely hard to center your bullets at your team mate. I'm not sure how the aiming is for FPS's on PC's because i only play RTS's and MMOs on the PC. But i can definitely vouch for most console Fps.
