That's the thing, I guess. Everything can be used as a weapon. Like I said, I stabbed a guy with a pen, and the whole thing was accidental, I was just trying to poke him away a little harder than I should have. That can be used as a weapon, a book can be used as a weapon (as Bourne has shown us), headsets can be used as a weapon if you really want to challenge yourself. Hell, just get a sturdy shoe and go for the throat, that could do it.

I do think it's perfectly reasonable to take away any metallic object that one owns when they go onto a plane though. I mean, it's not difficult to use them as weapons. Maybe it's just my upbringing, but whenever I'm in a room I find something I can defend myself with.
No I totally agree and I mean, it's not like it's a huge sacrifice to ask you to not have stuff like that on you, what are you gonna do, die if you don't do your nails during the flight? The only part I find somewhat ridiculous though is that they don't allow carrying certain items in the actual suitcase, like the stuff that goes as luggage and is nowhere nearly as accessible during and even after a flight.

And that comedian is one of the few funny female comedians. And she's a lesbian, so I'm on the fence about including her. To any aspiring female comedians out there, making fun of men has been done. Find something else to do because it got old years ago.
Agreed with that whole part. Only thing I found a little strange with her is her long pauses between jokes, but I guess that's me being used to watching Robin Williams and the late George Carlin heh ^^

I don't fly too frequently (been on a plane once and hated it) so I honestly don't know. And I'd rather she pause between jokes and nail the delivery then try and do everything at once and furk up somewhere along the way. Or the constant anti-man jokes. I can't stress how not-funny those are these days.

It's called security theatre. It's not there to make you safer; it's there to make you feel like things are being done to make you safer.

I recall someone getting their nail clipper confiscated because of the fact that the file has a blunt blade at the end like this one

Yet this blade is so blunt it'd be much better to use your actual nails, that said why don't they just handcuff everyone if they're afraid they'll hurt each other with nail clipper files? That always perplexed me how paranoid of a lawsuit some places are.
You can kill someone with the "blunt" blade quite easily. They are basically like a key which you could kill someone with your keys as well. In fact you can crush someone's windpipe with a rolled up magazine anything can be used as a weapon but that is a more easily dangerous object.

Well if the nail clipper can cut through nails, it shouldn't have much trouble making shallow cuts in a person's skin. Sure, they're small, but if the nail clipper was dirty, they could get INFECTED!

Or, you know, you could use the blunt attached blade to stab someone.

I mean you can kill anyone with basically anything.

Give me a wooden spoon and I'll kill you with it. Break it in half and stab you with the pointy end.

I could make you choke on a banana-peel. That kind of thing, you know?

In all seriousness, it's quite obvious why it's considered a weapon. It does contain a blade. It's a no-go.

Because it looks like a nice and effective eye-poking device. But then again so are nails, and probably, teeth... *shudder*

because if you where to clip your nails and one of your nails can go through somebodey,s eye and kill them then again the same could happen with a plastic dinner fork

Well, anything can be used as a weapon, if you look at it the right way. We humans are rather adept when it comes to finding ways to kill one another.

I suppose if you were bored enough and a terrorist, you could get a fire-steel and sharpen it into a crude shiv... but then, you could make a shiv with almost anything.

If you cut a pilots nails with it, he might not be able to scratch himself properly. The itching goes on and on until he cant take it anymore and crashes the plane.

The pointed ends of nail clippers are effectively stilettos. If you stab someone with something like that, it'll go through him like butter.

Try it if you want. Take a nail file, a big piece of roast meat, wrap it in cellophan wrap and go stabbity. You won't even feel a real resistance, that's how easy people are to stab.

Look at that thing man its clearly a horrible danger to the community. In all seriousness though they are probably afraid of someone sharpening the edge of the nail file and going for the eyes or something. A weapon doesn't have to kill to be dangerous.

Yah, but you can do far more damage with your fists, so why don't they just handcuff everyone if they're afraid that they'll hurt each other?

In the words of Mock The Week

"If you can take down a plane with a pair of tweezers, you deserve the plane"

Same applies for this. Although I don't see why they ban you from taking it on. They could just put it in a bag in the cargo hold? It'd be kind of obvious if you went screaming for the cargo hold shouting about death. Same with drinks.

Statement. With a little creativity, any mundane object may be utilized as a weapon. Most people are unable to realize the potential of such objects in thier ability to inflict damage upon other meatbags.
