Why are people assholes?

I'm an asshole in that I won't ever not tell the truth or sugar coat things to make them more palatable and the fact I don't like people much. But I'm not a jerk, that guy sounds like a jerk or fuckwad as the meme from penny arcade indicates. Fuckwads go out of their way to irritate, they're not worthy of much besides the ass whipping their parents should have given them coming up.

IRL, I have found most assholes are that way because they want someone to kinda be an asshole back to them. It's how they joke around and such. There are plenty of those types that come into my job, but I work at a place where the youngest person who can come in is 21. Way different than high school. The best way to handle an asshole at your age is sock them in the face. You are too young to go to jail for that sort of thing, so take advantage.

Alright, so I was on Facebook tonight, and an acquantance of mine (named Melanie) posts in her status that she is watching District 9. I like that movie, so I post a comment on it.

Immediatly this guy, named Nick, starts calling me gay. And for no reason. I have never done anything wrong to this guy, yet he sees it fit to make fun of me and call me names and stuff. And it is kind of pissing me off.

Now, let me set the context here: I'm smart, shy to people I don't know, and a massive nerd. He is pretty much the polar opposite: dumb, ripped, and constant;y being a douche to everybody, butting in where he isn't wanted. a stereotypical jock (we are in highschool btw).

Alright so here is my question: we are people such douche bags? Seriously, I have been playing this flame war smart. and he looks like a total asshole. So I mean what is the point? Why do people do this shit?

I think its pretty obvious why he does it. He is insecure about something in himself and so he needs to put down other people in order to feel good about himself.

People like that are everywhere, so get used to it I suppose. If you can figure out what his problem is call him out on it, he'll either leave you alone or try to beat you up but either way you'll be right!
