There's plenty to be excited for in the opinion of myself and many others. Not trying argue ad populum against you OP; I'm just saying that if you're not excited about anything at all, I see three possibilities:

1 - You have very very specific tastes in gaming that are not being sated by what's on offer this year.

2 - You're experiencing some form of burnout with the hobby as a whole.

3 - You don't know what all is in the pipe for 2015 and you are unaware of the piece that would catch your interest.
4 - Or popularity isn't a fact and just like every year, people hype up things that are nowhere near complete and hardly any of it that eventually comes out is special at all. Remember all the hype for 2014? Now many call it a disappointing year.

Seriously, cut the shit. You can look forward to whatever you desire, and the OP is just asking why, but I can't stand people who think they can assess others like some professional.

Well... we face a big wall here. Do you care about One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3 or Dragon Quest Heroes: Yamiryū to Seikaiju no Shiro? I can say those are why I'm excited about 2015. More Pirate Warriors and a new IP in the Warriors series? Oh, hell yeah! If you answered no, then you have your answer. People are gonna care about different games than you.
I hope you know Japanese because I'm still waiting for DQ7 to get localised!

Star Citizen.
But maybe it'll flop

And No Man's Sky.
But maybe that'll flop too.

Also Call to Arms (modern Men of War), if it ever happens.

I am primarily excited about two games: Persona 5 and Overwatch.
Persona 5 is... well, motherfucking PERSONA 5 and doesn't need explanation. And Overwatch is the first shooter that I'm excited for since... I don't know, forever.

It's a good question. Between a bunch of recent self-reflection and an incredibly dour, unpleasant and fussy community, I'm prepared to ditch gaming altogether.

So... I guess I'm not excited for gaming in 2015. :D
No, don't hate the game, hate the player. Remember, if you just ignore the community entirely, gaming is already like ten times better.

Firstly, I clearly stated that I wasn't arguing ad populum. His question was "why are people in general excited for 2015?" My response was "there are a lot of games that a lot of people are excited about." That's all.

As for my numbered list, I wasn't trying presume some level of professional analysis. I was just thinking out loud, wondering why none of the very many titles that many consider interesting are interesting to the OP. I also happen to have an analytically-inclined style of communication. I didn't mean it like you took it.

I can only see your points as ad populum, nothing else. Even if you don't mean it, it really comes across like it. They are very very specific (Very very specific taste? Maybe a burnout? Or he hasn't looked around enough?), and the popular thought that it's impossible for no one to be interested in up coming titles has burnt me out. I mean, you don't know if they'll be any good, and not have bothered to ask, are completely unaware of what the OP's interests are. And as I already mentioned, hyped up games tend to make a habit of turning out pretty average, or even shit sometimes.

Maybe I am acting sensitive, but it's an attitude I've seen far too often. These kind of threads usually earn some mean spirited posts, when it's actually relatively harmless.

Yeah, not a very exciting answer, but there ya go.
Basically sums up what everyone else said in one short sentence. Kudos.

I never said it was impossible for him to not be excited, nor did I mean to imply such. I wasn't going on the offense, trying to say that he should be excited and that there's something wrong with him because he isn't. Quite the opposite, I was defending those of us who are excited, and innocently wondering/speculating as to why he might not be. Nothing more or less.

I suppose an effective way of getting my point across without this communication breakdown might have been along the lines of, "People excited for 2015 because there are plenty of things in 2015 that make them excited. If you aren't excited OP, then the things coming down the pipe that are making most people excited just aren't for you, that's perfectly okay."

It's because people in gaming media and forums are obsessed with "originality".

To the point where polish and actual gameplay seem to be taking second spot to how much discussion value a game has. A premise seems to be enough to sell people if it's different enough. People want to make their opinions on these games without even playing them.

With Metal Gear Solid V, Uncharted 4, Batman Arkham Knight, Tekken 7, Disgaea 5, Kingdom Hearts III and Final Fantasy XV (and possibly DragonBall Xenoverse) this is looking like the year I'll bite the bullet and get myself a PS4. For systems I do own, we've got Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate on the 3DS and the English release of Yakuza 5 for the PS3.

This is going to be a great year of gaming for me, and my wallet is going to hate me for it...

Well, before I can explain to you why people are exited, you need to explain why a "rehashed" idea is a bad thing and why you believe that a new entry in a series is automatically a "rehash". While you're at it, can you also tell us your definition of "rehash" because it seems to be rather different than what most people believe it is.
