Because many people have special little snowflake syndrome and believe their opinion of [insert popular thing here] warrants a new thread, when they could have just posted it on [insert thread about popular thing here].

With some of the repeat threads yes I agree people are being dicks about it. When already have topics on the same damn thing on the front page but the OP decided their opinion was so special that it needs its own bloody thread rather than posting in existing one (which happens a lot here) I have no sympathy for them.
It really isn't much of a problem when someone posts a repeat thread.Ando85 said:

It depends on the thread, if it is a repeat of an old one or a new one. How often the topic has come up, and most importantly, what the topic is. I understand why people get fed up of 'Skyrim hurr durr' threads. Most people don't get that annoyed when pointing it out anyway, just some. But that's the same everywhere, some people are nice, some are satan spawn
