Yeah, right.
in theory it is the best, but cant work due to human nature
oh, and they are not commies any more
I don't get how it is best 'in theory.'

I really don't.

Whenever I see comments like that, I really have to try hard to put myself in the shoes of someone who really believes this. In truth, I used to believe this myself...that it was great and the problem is the people. But then I actually started using mah brain and asked myself "In what way is it the best system?"

And then I realized I couldn't come up with an answer. Sure, IF it were to work IF we were in a perfect world, IF people would voluntarily give up leadersip, etc. what kind of screwery would we be in? We would essentially live in a world without conflict. Sure, we would have everyday problems but I mean REAL conflict. Think of everything in our world that has risen out of conflict. What kind of ingenuity has been applied to solving major problems that have helped us as a society. Some of the foundations of physics were studies of projectiles from cannons (brought to us by warfare). Literature, film, art, all have drawn from the mantle that the human race believes it to be carrying. The great sculpture of Rome, the great architacture of the Muslims, the modern genius of films such as Star Wars, The Shining, heck...just about any good movie. All would be nonexistant in a world without strife.

That argument aside, from a practical purpose, I still don't get why it is the 'best system.' How is a system that does not recognize acheivment good? You may be the best thing to happen in, say, Computer Sciences. You may be able to create, say, an AI that can learn all by itself. But you would be held back from it, stuck in mediocraty, to avoid resentment from your peers and to make sure you didn't get so uppity and try to use your creation for your own purposes. How is this good?

Try reading The Giver. I read it WAAAAY back when I was a kid and re-read it fairly recently. It is a brilliant painting of an essentially Communist society. The main difference is that there is a ruling class, the Council of Elders or something. But even then, all Elders are given that responsability. Seriously, read it. It will take you an afternoon.

But if it hasn't worked yet, how can you be sure it's best? The scientific method would prove that it's good only in theory (but honestly, it's never had the chance to truely be tested).

Besides, I think we'll always develop better ways of government. While others get worse.

It's same thing as Germans, everything is influenced by history.
Excacly. The soviet union was no better then the nazzi germany
Don't make it sound as if I think their still like that I simply mean it's due to past actions that have influenced steryotypes and develepors can't see to let go of thoes ideas.
I mean that. And that is the truth. IF you have doubts, watch the documentary "The soviet story"
The main reason America doesn't have quite as many atrocities on its' back is because it's such a young country comparatively. Although their actions have not always been clear of concience, either.

Communism is the 'perfect' form of government, on paper, in theory. It will NEVER work, however, because no people that can run a government will be incorruptible. That is not to say that there are no incorruptible people, just that those two traits are mutually exclusive. History proves this point over and over.

Personally I've always loved playing as the Russians in any game it was allowed. RA2? Russians. AoE3? Russians. CoD? Russians. The Russians own (And I am American, some of us are willing to overlook foreign unease...).

And yes, Communism is the best form of government, on paper. Human nature prevents it from working, however, and certain countries in the world are learning this too late.

I never understood why people were so mean to the Russians. Well, sure there's the cold war, and them being communists (not anymore) so I would either say that
a) being capitalists we thing everyone else is wrong, and it's our way or the high way.(cough cough christian church cough)
b) industries are just holding onto an enemy (most likely)
People would be better off if we pooled our wealth, and everyone was treated equeally. But people are too janked up to volunteer. XD
oh, can somebody tell me how to get somebody else's post into mine? Thank yew.
I HAVE SPOKEN.

(not reading 5 some odd pages.)

The reason Russian are usually shown as evil because for the longest time, Americans haven't liked them. Also, in WWII, they were just brutal. From gunning their own troops whenever they retreated to the way they treated POW's, and the whole commie thing, it hasn't put them in the best of light.

But they're not always shown as evil. They're good (or usually good.) in
-Enemy at the Gates (movie)
-Call of Duty:World At War (game)
-Soldier X (book)
-The Hunt For Red October (movie/book)

they were a bunch of other WWII shooters that showed the Russians as good on the X-Box, but I can't remember what they were called. (Think it might have been Medal of Honor.)

ALL badguys should speak like Helghast tbh, fuck Russian badguys.

but on a serious note, yes, it's because prejudie is still rife in american, and media has to be watered down as such.

Africans are mud-hut living savages who'd rather rape a white girl then look at her, Russians are evil masterminds bent on destroying capitalism, All Japanese know a martial art to a master level, all British are either cockney or toffs, Australians live strictly in rural areas next to BBQ's and cans of beer, Germans are evil, French are arty faggots... You get the idea.

Because Russia is associated with communism, dictators, and the killing of millions of innocent people under Stalin.

Hounestly russias portrayal is unfounded, I would love a game that shows the real side of it to portray the russian people as diehard communists is laughable. Russians were persecuted under one bad government after another the Tsars, the soviets, Stalin would be nice to see a real portrayal of some of the horrors htye faced. Inflation , civil war, starvation, no freedom of speech etc.

Plus, Russia wasn't really communist, it was Totalitarian (second time I've said this today.)
