communism ironically is the best form of government, it has just yet to work
Yeah, right.
in theory it is the best, but cant work due to human nature
oh, and they are not commies any more
I don't get how it is best 'in theory.'
I really don't.
Whenever I see comments like that, I really have to try hard to put myself in the shoes of someone who really believes this. In truth, I used to believe this myself...that it was great and the problem is the people. But then I actually started using mah brain and asked myself "In what way is it the best system?"
And then I realized I couldn't come up with an answer. Sure, IF it were to work IF we were in a perfect world, IF people would voluntarily give up leadersip, etc. what kind of screwery would we be in? We would essentially live in a world without conflict. Sure, we would have everyday problems but I mean REAL conflict. Think of everything in our world that has risen out of conflict. What kind of ingenuity has been applied to solving major problems that have helped us as a society. Some of the foundations of physics were studies of projectiles from cannons (brought to us by warfare). Literature, film, art, all have drawn from the mantle that the human race believes it to be carrying. The great sculpture of Rome, the great architacture of the Muslims, the modern genius of films such as Star Wars, The Shining, heck...just about any good movie. All would be nonexistant in a world without strife.
That argument aside, from a practical purpose, I still don't get why it is the 'best system.' How is a system that does not recognize acheivment good? You may be the best thing to happen in, say, Computer Sciences. You may be able to create, say, an AI that can learn all by itself. But you would be held back from it, stuck in mediocraty, to avoid resentment from your peers and to make sure you didn't get so uppity and try to use your creation for your own purposes. How is this good?
Try reading The Giver. I read it WAAAAY back when I was a kid and re-read it fairly recently. It is a brilliant painting of an essentially Communist society. The main difference is that there is a ruling class, the Council of Elders or something. But even then, all Elders are given that responsability. Seriously, read it. It will take you an afternoon.
