Why Are Stoners Typically Depicted as Stupid?

Hmmm my guess is that typically stoners are depicted as people who are addicted to marijuana and therefore they spend all their time smoking and not studying or maybe not even attecnding school.
I find that this is somewhat true...somewhat. I have a mixed barrel of people that I know; some are seriously addicted and don't study, but they also naturally hate school, and some of them like to smoke but are also doing well...so, I don't know.

Myself...I've smoked once or twice, nothing major though, and I haven't failed school yet!

My brother was a straight A student in high school. He graduated 7th in his class, which gave him a full ride to a four-year university in the city. He met up with his older friends down there, and due to their peer pressure he regularly smoked pot. This caused him to get arrested months later when the police found a loaded bong in his vehicle. By the end of his freshman year he had lost all of his scholarships from failing grades, including the class most directly related to his field of study. Unable to pay for college he dropped out and has since been living in a slum with other stoners while working at a rate below the poverty line. But he refuses to improve himself because he can easily buy and smoke all the weed he wants.

Getting wrapped up in drugs cost him his only shot at a better life. Is this something a brilliant, clever, rational, or intelligent person would do? No.

In life, if your ambition is to be successful you will keep your nose clean, work hard, and aim to better yourself. If your ambition is to merely "feel good" or "get high" then you run the risk of that being your only goal, and staying in whatever rut you put yourself in.

Because I don't, I'm merely asking if anyone here does and it didn't seem like that much of a problem before. I've seen people here admit it.

And yet that doesn't change the fact that it's not a wise move.

Kidding right? The stoners I have met have been 99.9% complete tards who stink up your apartment even when you tell them not to smoke pot on your couch. I think it's perfectly reasonable to think of anybody who decides to be socially reclusive at parties by going off somewhere to smoke pot when everybody else at that party has grown out of that scene when they left high school as stupid.

I also think it's completely reasonable to think someone stupid (who also acts like a complete fuck) who takes crystal meth or crack. Mainly because I've had to resuscitate people who have OD'D on both, and in one particular situation the guy punched one guest in the face before suffering a serious case of vt before almost dying.

Personally I don't want to touch them, and it's only because of my conscience smashing my logic with a mallet did I help the sod. Given the fact that I did realise the loser was a gatecrasher and would amount to nothing in society, generally be a violent arsewipe and would be better dead. But my conscience got the better of my logic and my general repulsed nature towards the individual and I decided to help.

Call me bias but stoners are stupid.

I once knew a stoner. Just one. He was incredibly smart and articulate, but he had no drive or ambition whatsoever. But I don't know if his laziness was caused by the weed or not...

From my personnal experience most drug addicts are idiots, and week minded, there might have exceptions. But i don't know any.
You have to be week to need drugs to have some fun in your life, and doing that to your brain is pretty stupid

In response to number one, get a clue. Also, you must be high now if you say it has no negative effects... Performing even the simplest tasks becomes very difficult, even dangerous when under the influence. Take driving for example. Your perception of speed, as well as your response time is greatly altered. Also, the government would actually profit greatly if marijuana was legalised... Considering the price of a pack of smokes has gone from $8 to about $16 in the last 5 years imagine the revenue they would get from taxing legal weed.

So XinfiniteX since you seem to know all about how much money they'd make on legalizing weed, why don't they? Let me throw a few buzzwords your way. Prison Industry Complex? 1/4th (or 1/5th depending on sources) of prisoners are in prison for drug use. The Prison industry is over 100 Billion Dollars annually!!! So yeah, I think they make more money the way things are.

Let me start with an outstanding Guffah.

This is an argument as to why not to repeat a routine of increasing dopamine levels, aired on a gaming website (/insert irony here)? There were many posts with no further commentary than people saying "people who do drugs are stupid" If anything, everyone who lied, and yes they actually lied by reiterating/disseminating inarticulate anti-drug propaganda, are also complete hypocrites; many would analogue gamers to drug users in the exact same manner of the misleading ignorant BS that I've seen in this thread.

Anyone who claims to know the path to true happiness... Well I'm more than happy to stay away from them.

In studies of regular Peyote users they've found that Peyotists are actually a much happier and healthier group of people than average.

Another comment I've heard throughout is that drug users are "weak willed".
Acid, peyote, shrooms, ayahuasca (if your particularly confident), salvia.
Talk to me about strong willed after that.

You could literally take shrooms every day for the rest of your life, and it would not poison you or kill any braincells. It would be a ballsy and hair raising experience no doubt but physically nothing would happen to you. That's to say nothing of weed which in fact, when studied in mice increased the braincell counts after constant exposure. The only inherent proven danger of weed is that of any smoke, and in fact quite less danger involved than a normal cigarette because there are not 800+ carcinogens added for taste. Weed is pretty tasty itself.

Most of my friends (and myself) are stoners and we tend to actually be a lot smarter than people who don't smoke. The people who drink are usually the stupid ones. The media gives us a negative image because they want to discourage drug use, plain and simple.

Hey, I take offence to that, I smoke pot and I'm even a little high right now but I know I'm not an idiot. Some stoners are idiots I admit, but you cant brand an entire group on the behaviours of a few.

Drugs and alcohol, including medicinal drugs, are basically poisons (poison being something that disrupts the natural function of your body). The effects may not be permanent, like weed or common medicinal drugs, but its still about as smart as drinking bleach (If you drink a little you'll recover just fine). I think we can all agree that if you drink bleach your an idiot. (The exception being that if your using it to fix another more important problem like medicine does. Similarly amputation isn't smart but its smarter than dying)
In conclusion, consuming a poison purposely for no practical reason makes you an idiot. In this case you CAN brand the entire group.

Also idiots are to idiotic to realize it. Saying your not an idiot doesn't mean much. Your either not an idiot and know it or your an idiot and don't know it. Its like saying your not lying. Its a paradox
