Why are there saddles in My Little Pony?

If we're just talking about that snow-saddle, it might just look like a saddle. I mean, since ponies have no hands, then it has to be hard for them to put on any kinds of clothes, so I'd think a saddle-shaped article of clothing would be a happy medium between struggling to put on clothes and going out naked. Which, for ponies, isn't so bad.
Also, fetishes.

On that subject, for your consideration, I submit Spongebob Squarepants (they have swimming pools... under the sea...), Pokémon (there's so much questionably messed up shit in that cartoon it's hard to know where to begin), Powerpuff Girls (how come professor X hasn't been jailed? why is anyone even still living in Townsville? WHERE ARE THEIR FINGERS?)... etc.

Well Spike rides on Twilight's back alot, so she has a reason to own one, but yeah, it IS a bit wierd. But then again this is a cartoon staring rainbow colored talking ponies, unicorns, and pegasuses (pegasi?), along with occasional zebras, dragons, and buffalo, logic does not apply here (I mean they grab things with their hooves even though they don't have fingers).

Because Twilight is obviously into pony play

There's a lot of subtle things in that show. The saddles just the tip of the iceberg. That's one of the many things great about it.

Also there's nothing 'odd' about liking the show. What's odd is when you take it to the next level. And I realize by liking this show I share something in common with some 'other' group of people. A certain group of people who not only take it to the next level but announce to every person they know as if they're coming out. You get a clue cuz they use the word 'fandom'.*shudder* But to each their own, right?

I'm still curious as how popular the show really is. There's actual popular(Spongebob) and then there's internet popular(Scott Pilgrim). Internet popular is deceitful.

I didn't want to spend the time it would take to isolate a clip with a pool, but in this one you get
* the snail avoiding the bath with all its might, even though it's a sea snail that already lives its entire life in water
* heck, a sea snail apparently NEEDING to take a bath, moreover
* spongebob sweating
* soap that drips water
* spongebob IN a bath (and not swelling up or becoming super heavy, either... least, as far as i watched)
* crab dude in a motorised bath that he drives straight through spongebob's lounge
* falling a few metres underwater being a rather frightening, not to mention rapid affair

Cartoons, man. They don't have to make sense. You may as well try to analyse Wile E Coyote and Road Runner.

Especially cartoons engineered to sell brightly coloured miniature moulded rubber dolls of miniature horses to elementary-school-age girls ;-)

(I'm not hating on the show, or people of any walk of life being a fan of it... but this is sort of reaching the "damn, dude, shut up about it already" level that anime passed through a few years back. Is there not an actual forum for fans of the show to use? Cuz I'm going to start threads about things that need fixed on my car, if we're OK to be that general)
