Why are there suddenly so many My Little Pony Avatars?

Another day another pony thread. Flame war, flame war never changes....

Internet popularity is a fickle and crafty thing. Nobody really knows why, or how shit happens.
4chan is probably the answer to this thread. But the show is boring. I'd rather paint a house.

Something ive noticed is the core demographic is little girls, so people like to think they're better than normal men because THEY can like a kids show and be open about it. Its a huge ego thing I think. Or maybe being hipster. Why haven't other little girls shows invaded internet popularity? You know what I dont see? MLP fans trying to look at other kids shows to find 'quality works of art' that they may have missed/can use on the internet. I wonder why.

You want quality cartoon shows? Watch Samurai Jack and Ren and Stimpy. Jack is a masterpiece (some episodes have NO dialogue and are brilliant from start to finish) and R&E is actually funny, plus the 2 characters aren't stale 1 sided stereotypes like the ponys are.

I get a lot of very general "THE SHOW IS AMAZING END OF STORY" type responses, and "just go watch it and you will join the herd" without quality details. I think the show is the opposite of shows like Madmen, where instead of detailed shit happening it feeds you cupcakes and sparkles and LOL LOOKIT THIS ITS CUTE RIGHT? HAHAHAH. I get it, I really do, you don't need a brain to enjoy it.

It's called a fad. Like when 5-6 years ago, everyone had Family Guy avatars.

I'm so confused... Are the people talking about the show as if it's good serious, or is it really bad and everyone's joking?

I've seen 3 random episodes and it had the same effect on me as watching 3 random episodes of Hannah Montana. No, that was not a praise.

OT: well seeing as this was necrod and my opinion has probably already been said but It's my avatar and I like the show and I chose this as my avatar. People can choose whichever avatar they wish and I don't see the problem with pony avatars since they are just another type of avatar.

Ummm... you do know this thread is nearly a year old right? And that the Pony "fad" has now made the second largest group here on the Escapist after the biggest Zero Puncutation one.

This isn't another "Pony Thread" it is one that was Necroed I made MONTHS ago.
