I never thought it was that hard either.
It was hyped up to be the hardest game in existence, i thought everything would kill you in just a few hits, i thought every time you died your health was halved until 1hp remained and you could only get it back by killing a super hard boss, and i'd be killed by every new enemy until i memorized the level perfectly.

Then i play it and i can easily whack my way through hordes of enemies on my first go, your maximum health never goes below half, the bosses have easy to learn patterns.

I'm not saying it's easy and i'm speeding through the game beating every level on my first go, but it really isn't hard at all compared to older games like Megaman.

Its not as hard as people say. It just doesn't take any shit and it doesn't hold your goddamn hand like everyother game today.

That's what's bullshit, is that every game review says that everything that doesn't hold your hand is automatically one of the hardest games ever.

I'm not sure what you're saying but it seems more like bragging than questioning anything.
I must agree with this, although its hard to brag when your post makes almost no sence at all.
For example, ever noticed the "enter" key, or even maybe the "shift" key, this isnt ZP man, use some punctuation and grammar.(i won't complain about spelling cause i fail at that also)

Like practically everyone before me I agree, DS _is_ unforgiving, screw up and die. It's tricky, but not conventionally hard, enemies aren't random by any means, learn the patterns, learn the rules of the game and learn how to exploit them to maximum effect. For instance, I've killed the tower knight just 3 times in melee, killed him like 10 times with a bow, standing in places where he can't touch me. DS is you vs. the game, there are no rules on what you can and can't do, whatever works is allowed (like bugging flamelurker and false king if you can't take 'em traditionally)

I've never heard it called the hardest game ever, probably because it isn't. But I have to believe that a significant number of people who play it won't ever finish it because of the difficulty. It's not an RPG you can beat just by level grinding.

If the OP thinks Demon's Souls doesn't deserve to be called "hard", what in the world does get that title?

Sounds like a wannabe elitist heard people call a game 'hard' and thus decided to publicly shame everyone by saying how good he is at it.

Too bad nobody played the game enough to care :(
But enough people played it to think to give it numerous RPG of the Year awards as well as a few Game of the Year Awards...

It, would, however, be easier if the Dual Shock controller wasn't an out of date POS that feels flimsy and loose in your hands compared to the 360 controller.

And I wish the 360 controller could actually be used for fighting games. Guess we can't win can we?

Well, I'll definitely agree that the 360 controller is crap for fighting games. Thankfully, what was once my favorite genre, in 1992, I just can't get into anymore, so it's a non-issue for me. If ever buy Street Fight IV, I'll be sure to pick it up on the PS3.

I think it's such a solid game, due to the fact that us Europeans haven't even got it! You try beating a game that you can't even buy, it's incredibly tough.

Do like the look of this game though and hope it does come out over here eventually.
Just buy the Chinese version, its region free. I have been playing it since June. Everything is in English anyways, voiceovers etc

I think it may have something to do with the fact that the enemies are allegedly all Demonic Spiders [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DemonicSpiders] and the fact that you lose experience when you die.

And there's supposed to be a very, very difficult enemy in the game that, when it attacks, drains your experience bar. Yeah.

From what I've heard it has trial and error gameplay, which isn't hard, just BS.
Edit: And use some punctuation. Everyone else has to.

In my opinion, a game that is unforgiving, harsh, unrelenting, and doesn't take any crap is "hard." If someone else can come up with a rubric for "hardness" that doesn't involve one of these, I applaud you.

I've never heard it be said that Demon's Souls is the hardest game ever. Whoever is saying that has never played Fester's Quest, or the speeder bike level of Battletoads. THAT LEVEL is the true meaning of hard: unforgiving, harsh, requiring split second timing and recall of patterns... hm. Sounds like Demon's Souls.

It's not hard. Just tedious as times. Though, the game will punish you harshly for doing things like goon-rushing an unknown room that has unseen enemies in it and such. I think it's hard by the standard's of today's gamers because the little pricks don't know what a challenging game is really like. Just my opinion.

Interesting, might look into that, thanks.
