Because I enjoy it, it makes me feel good and it is a wonderful escape from the depressing, mundane reality of life.

Go ask someone who plays golf, why they enjoy golf. Go ask someone who likes to snort coke, why they do so. We enjoy it. and, when the days over its most likely always going to be there. Something constant that changes with the years kind of like us. Its almost like watching a movie that just keeps getting better and better with the advancement of technology.

Mainly because it passes the time really well and I am quite good at it. It's alot better then watching the crap thats on tv these days. The only use I have for those machines is games and top gear, and the occassional dvd.

For a child there's no better education than playing games after schoolwork. They learn to try their best when they want to achieve their goal and get rewarded for success. I'm sure a lot of you agree seeing that big "You beat the game! Congratulations!" is just as gratifying as getting high grades.

I'm a competitive bastard and since I quit Soccer due to anxiety gaming is the only other outlet I have. Yeah, I'm one of those "takes the game too seriously" MLGfags, sue me. If millions of other people get to take turns watching people toss balls back and forth I should get to play my game and care about it a little.

I just realized how much of an ***hole I came off in that. No wonder the rest of the gaming community hates us . . .

... Because I enjoy games. Do you want a deeper and more philosophical answer than that? I don't really think that defining oneself as a gamer is useful in any way, any more than people who define themselves as hikers or audiophiles are expressing anything about themselves other than what they like to do. I certainly hope that you're not expecting my or anyone else's status as a gamer to predict personality or character traits.

I just enjoy it.
It's my favorite form of relaxation and escapism.
It also has it's challenges and can test your patience and sanity.
Also great for playing with buddies and socializing (party games), or just passing the time.
