I don't procrastinate. I do what I want instead of doing what I'm supposed to. SHUT UP IT'S NOT THE SAME

high school biology final exam, had to have a certain number of lab reports done to even take it, skated by the whole school year, never did any homework, handed in 4 labs on the last possible day to take it, teacher was convinced i was going to fail, and made me stand there while she set to work correcting it..

and proceeded to mark 2 questions wrong...

out of a hundred question test..

I've got a good "false alarm" story.

So I'm doing my big mid-semester project for Computer Science. I'm actually enjoying my first crack at coding, so I start early and have it all planned out so I don't think I'm procrastinating. Unfortunately for me, I stupidly thought my code was actually going to work on first compile and didn't allow myself time to debug, so I was in for a shock and an all-nighter repairing my code the night before the project was due. In lab that day I was falling asleep at the keyboard. Then came the shock. The professor extended the deadline another week. Later in class he let sent me home early without a penalty to my grade to get some sleep after working so hard on the project in one sitting.

Didn't touch the thing all week, and I aced the project. Go, me!

So... I have five more pages to write for a project that was due thirteen hours ago, and all I can do is keep chatting on the forums here. (I've got 'The Add,' as my sister calls it)
Why are you distracting me, Escapist!?*

* Clearly, I have no problem with taking responsibility for my own actions...

Discussion: What's your best procrastination story?
What's your best "did it at the last second" story?
What sorts of things do you do when putting off homework?
I know what you mean :/ I had an extra day on my procrastinated homework and yet, damn escapist is holding me here! My did it at the last second thing would be anything...I always wait to do stuff. I come on the escapist when putting off homework, or play video games...or hang out with friends/watch TV/watch movies.

Last second work:

Research sometime in Highschool on some social thing (uhm...what was it...something philosophical). Anyway, quake3 was still hot at the time and I really wanted to perfect one of the maps, so obviously procrastination occurs...wait a second, I remember now. The research was about procrastination! XD

Moving on though, decided not to do the research but instead took the name of a variety booklet that was only fairly well-known. Made up a date. Made up a doctor's name. Finally added some numbers and called them statistics. Voila! Research done and no-one's the wiser...even got a commendation for how obscure my source was...

Currently I have a final exam for theater class tomorrow morning, which I have not studied at all for, have not even read past the first chapter in the textbook, and have not watched any of the required plays for the class.

And yet I'm still doing well enough in that class that I don't even need to get higher than a D to still pass the class.

Considering how lazy I am and how much I procrastinate, things really shouldn't work out so well for me as they do.
I'm somehow getting As and Bs in all my classes, while the only thing I actually do for these classes is attend the lectures and study for an hour or so a day three days before the tests.
I guess I'm just reeeeeally good at winging it.

Well... guess I should get to that hour of study now, maybe after I watch some more Zero Punctuation.

Most of the time when I'm procrasinating I'm either posting on forums (damn you Escapist), watching Zero Punctuation (damn you Escapist), or watching videos on youtube (damn you the rest of the world). The only story I can really think of for great procrasination was when I wrote a four page paper at midnight on the day it was due because I had been so busy posting on forums for the past four hours (Damn you Escapist).

I do that all the time, and this place is my #1 go to spot for whenever I'm supposed to be writing an essay. I just can't focus on homework for long periods of time, but I still get it done in the end. Trouble is, what might have only took me a couple hours ends up taking up an entire day.

As for my best procrastination story, just take any project in middle school. Oh wait, middle school was just one big useless project anyways. I almost forgot. (Seriously, I had to make a shoebox diorama for math class! Freakin' MATH!) Anyways, being that I am terrible at arts and crafts and I'm a mega procrastinator, my Mom was always the one who ended up doing them. This led to many conversations like this:

Me: "Uh...hey, Mom. I have a poster project."
Mom: "Oh how fun, when is it due?"
Me: Err...tomorrow."
Mom: "...Shit."

Needless to say, it was never fun.

Yep, this may as well have been written by me. I need to do my Humanities final in the next 48 hours (It's online, so I can do it whenever) and I haven't read anything from the book for several Units, as the assignments were all extremely easy to do without it. I know I should be looking at the review questions right now, but here I am.

I forgot that I had an oral presentation for year ten, on the benifits of a strong martial culture, I had elected to give my presentation as the for and was going to give it to a class heavily comprised of the sort of kids that ask their teacher if they can protest rather than go to school. My teacher had once spent an hour shouting at my because I refused to accept communism. And I had done no preperation. So I just winged it, relying on only my patter.

The speech was supposed to be five minutes long. Mine went for ten. It got, I shit you not, an encore. With a little careful streering over the next couple of days, communist was a dirty word in our class room, no matter how much our teacher preached about her early years in the Ukraine.

I don't like to blow my own trumpet, I feel that putting up anything I have done makes me a pretentious wanker, but when I put my mind to it, I can be a rolled gold bullshit artist.

I've got a story to finish and queries to write, but I'm on the Escapist and spent a chunk of the day playing Rock Band 3.

I skipped 40% of my school days vis-a-vis truancy, spent most of the time I should've been at school smoking pot, and I turned up to my final exams exhausted, stoned and entirely unfocused.

Stories like mine always fill me with joy when I passed all of my exams with flying colours. Or maybe the British education system is broken...
