Why are you friends with your friends?

Because I'm awesome, and they're awesome, and we all agree that we're awesome.

No, really, that's pretty much everyone's logic behind it. You're awesome, lets be friends.

If I had to give a proper answer it'd be along the lines of we have extremely similar if not identical taste in music, movies, books, games and the likes, the similar if not the same views on most issues, and we hang out together. Because of our similarities, we inevitably have a great time. We will listen to the same music and enjoy it, watch the same movies and enjoy it, and play the same games and enjoy it, only do it together and enjoy each other's personalities - which differ greatly but are all good.

Now, that's my best friends. My general friends I'm friends with because I respect who they are. I may not like the same things they do, or share the same views on issues, however they are people that I respect, and as such enjoy the company of. We can't do everything together, however what we can do together is generally enjoyable.

My best friends share my sense of humor, along with several of my hobbies. Whenever I hang with different groups of friends, I adapt myself to them. With my best buddies I can just me my ol' self no problem, because they have more or less the same zany quirks that I have.

How I actually met them, I don't really know. One of 'em I met in elementary school, the other in high school. The former shares my long time passion for games, the the latter is the cause of my unhealthy obsession with anime.

More seriously, because I enjoy their company and jokes and the like, and generally, we play roleplaying games together and enjoy similar books, movies, manga, and comic books and the like and can hold an interesting and enjoyable conversation with eachother.

Because who else would put up with my antics? They are like family to me really. Been friends with them for just over 10 years now, a couple of them more than that. We have similar interests, a lot of differences, we all make eachother laugh. I can't define it, they are just my friends, my best friends. We've always been there for eachother. My general friends I enjoy hanging around with, we don't do much together but when we are together it is fun.

Convenience sake, a lot of my 'friends' are. We are in the same social circle, and its just easier to have someone to talk to and work with when the times arise. But mostly a bunch of ingrates that lot are.

I've made few good friends around the place, but we meet up scarcely now due to being in different countries/work/education/life all that jazz.

I think the most constant friends I have are people I chat with on the internet in a certain chatroom. Though we never had to put our friendship to the test so who knows how strong that is.

Having similar interests of course helps. I mean you aren't going to spend all day talking with someone about yourself, its better if you build it upon doing things together. And drinking over that. That said I absolutely hate introducing/talking about myself. Might explain my lack of friends.

Both of my best friends have been complete opposites to me. They both have played football, are strong and fit and reasonably popular. I am none of that yet we just seem to get along. One was in primary school and the other in highschool. The only thing we have in common at all is playing games but neither of them played as much as me.
I do have other friends more like me but the ones I am always with tend to be from the group of people I never get along with.

Because they're there, I guess. They talk, I talk, it passes time. I don't keep friends for long though. Once I get to know someone I tend to get bored and find other people to talk to.

I have made some attempt in getting in touch with my childhood friends but they're kinda illusive.

Well I suppose the reason why I keep in touch with my three closest friends out of the other friends I met during my time in University are these reasons-

They appreciate me just the way am I which is very important to me. I mean I'm anti social and don't like going out and they accept that made me who I am.

Common grounds. I got alot of things in common with my best friends as we share interest toward comicbook, games and etc. Ok I admit I only have a few common interests toward my other two friends (one like to go out to party while the other one is into cars) but it never been a problem.

We get along and we never pratically argue/ fight well except for one but that was just an agree/ disagree argument but I can overlook that.

We help each others. I do everything I can to help them and likewise they help me in return when I needed it most of the time (no I don't get pissed off when they can't help but I understand the reasons like if they were busy or something).

It's those reasons above and probably more which is why they are dear and important friends to me.

My old friends? Because we have not had a fight about anything real, just politics.
My current friends? Spend a year around people and you will either end up friends with them or hate them.

I only really have about two people I'd call my friends.
I'm just terrible at connecting with people.

I've known my first friend since I can remember but he's kinda a douche sometimes, we met because our elder siblings were friends for ages so we would always hang out. My second friend I met about six years ago and just gravitated towards each other because of our similar personality's.

These day my best friend (the second) and I probably stay friends because we have a mutual respect and trust, almost like brothers.
I would have no trouble putting my life in his hand and I think he'd say the same.
