i am mainly here for the awesome community. said community is a great place for a nerd novice like myself to go for further knowledge. that and people on here seem to be alot more polite than the jackasses on xbl.

so, why do you have an account

because I love reading my own opinion....(no seriously) its one vanity I can allow myself

also because I like to be able to "discuss" certain things that I cant in real life, and Ive learned so much during my time here (no, not how to proof read though)

You and me both.
I've tried, but I just keep coming back.
(And keep in mind when looking at my post count, I have less than 100 posts in forum games and user groups)

I blame the IRC. I luff you guyz. <3

Well, I lurked around for...I don't know, a year or two? After coming here originally for Zero Punctuation. I made an account, ignored it for a few months and over the last couple of months really got into the swing of being a part of the community.

Like many folks, I first came to The Escapist because I discovered Zero Punctuation.

I made an account because I submitted a suggestion for Unskippable, they used it, I felt giddy and wanted to comment about it.

I'm still around because despite getting roped into the occasional argument I'd rather not be a part of, I do generally like the tone and level of conversation on this board. I'm on GameFAQs to talk specifically about a few games I like, but whenever I have a vague gaming query or even just something I want to get people's opinions on, this is a pretty good place to do it.

Mostly out of boredom and vanity. Forums are a wonderful place to wax eloquent about whatever topic is currently occupying one's mind, under the delusion that other people are listening, regardless of the fact that they generally aren't.

In other words, this is a needlessly elaborate way for me to talk to myself.

EDIT: On a slightly less egocentric note, people here seem to have a decent amount of sense, as a whole, and I find a lot of the discussions that go on to be quite enjoyable. It's a pleasant crowd.

For a couple of reasons, I guess. I find the people here entertaining and there is so much knowledge here on such a broad range of topics that I can get sent off link surfing by something someone posts and come back two days later going, "Wow. Two days ago, I didn't even know that EXISTED! How cool."

Also, I mostly like the level of moderation here. I really like the fact that just because you've been here for (X long) doesn't mean you can start treating others however you want to, immune from mod wrath because you're an "old timer". I hate when extreme assholery is allowed based on join date or post count. The general civility here makes it nice to stick around.

I came here for the standard: ZP (and also Unskippable).

I made an account for the quizzes. I'm a huge sucker for "Which X are you?" quizzes.

I do other stuff here cuz... um... well I overall like the place I suppose.

A friend of mine asked me to create an account...
Funnily enough I have yet to add any friends!
But I have frequented this site since 2009, fantastic community

I discovered escapist because of Zero Punctuation. And I created an account because I naively thought I could use it to pester Yahtzee into reviewing my favorite games.

Because every site needs a token Mexican guy and apparently there wasn't one here so I get to fill that space.
But mostly because I kind of like the community, they are a pretty great bunch of people, well some of them anyway, and yes I mostly come here for the forums the videos and articles are like very cool extras.

I first joined because I was interested in joining a forum and this seemed like a good place to start. I maintain this profile since I have met a lot of really cool people on this site and I have made some really good friends here.

I came for the weekly magazine with the essays and interviews and such.

Does anyone remember them? Anyone? :-(

Nowadays it's just "to waste a bit of time on the forums"

Just came here for Yahtzee for a while, finally made an account then ignored it for approximately a month and a half. Then one night I was just bored as balls and thought "Eh. I might as well check out that forum tab." And I found a lot of really interesting topics right off the bat that I had a lot of fun discussing. Then I just never stopped.
