Why cant you kill kids?

Seriously, how come when any open[ish] world game or such like appears with annoying kids [im looking at you fable 2 and fallout 3] why cant you kill them?

im sure the developers dont want us to go out and kill kids in real life, but come on, it is make blieve after all, if we are allowed to blow some random persons head into a million bloody pieces, why cant we do it to kiddies too?

I guess it would be very politically incorrect and play hell with the ESRB rating. That said, when a kid in little lamplight in Fallout 3 said I "Smelled like dungo" and I shot him in the head, I would have liked his head to explode instead of him just running off crying.

I cant stand the little kids in games. I would really lika a game that lets me hack them into bloody peices. Whiny annoying little peoples.
I know i would have liked to sacrifice all my kids to the temple of shaows on fable 2. that would have been fun.
But yeah, we arent allowed to kill kids because its 'wrong'. especially in a game where you can have sex with prostitutes, marry multiple men and women, kill random people and steal stuff

Duh, see Columbine Massacre and the ammount of blame that was heaped on Doom. Even Rockstar shies away from that kind of heat. All it would take was one loonytoon who played the "kid killing game" to kill some classmates and a million bleeting sheep would demand "tough new rules to stop these godless game developers who are turning our children into killers!" Regardless of the fact that said loonytoon was probably going to kill his classmates no matter what videogames he played or didn't.

Killing kids pushes the ESRB rating system into the AO range, also the games would become target by the media for being murder simulators even more.
