I completely agree that Cartoon Network has become a sham of what it used to be. The most aggravating shows I've witnessed would be those like "Total Drama Island", "6-Teen" and "Stoked", all of which are basically filled to the brim with stereotypes and false pretenses of what the world should be like for that bracket of viewers who are younger and, incidentally, impressionable. I mean, sure, there aren't ever going to be people flying around with yellow spiky hair-dos throwing Kamehameha waves at aliens, but at least that was imaginative and so obviously different from reality that kids wouldn't be at home thinking they could do things like skateboard in a mall and not expect to get a fine, which they'd then have to pay for, as well as likely having to deal with no longer being able to enter into said shopping establishment.
As a continuation regarding shows being imaginative, I'm disgusted that "Ruroni Kenshin", "Yu Yu Hakusho", and "Dragon Ball" are all off-air. Hell, even "Yu-Gi-Oh" was passable with a semi-decent storyline and very concrete rules that tied into the card game. Now I turn on Cartoon Network and there's this "Bakugan" stuff playing. Seriously, the plot is literally "one day these cards just randomly started raining from the sky, so all of us kids collected them to start playing a game that happened to deal with monsters that were guardians of a dimension know as "Destroya". I mean, WTF is that? And then the monsters talk! They say things like "I'm going to do my best, I'm never going to be beaten!" even when their attack power, which is a concrete number, is lower than the other guys. YOU CAN'T WIN, but then it's as if the show just makes up some rule or circumstance that has them win in the end, regardless if the numbers should dictate a loss.
I strongly believe that the world is becoming increasingly bland. No longer is it acceptable to be imaginative and, in fact, it's discouraged. This is because humanity has become more dumb as a whole while those of us who have truly open minds are shunned off into obscurity to live seemingly separated, always suffering the sadness that comes from witnessing those around us wither. What does this have to do with cartoons? Cartoons are the culturally defining form of entertainment for kids. Whatever's on the tube is on their minds.
