Caveats:
I am a gamer of a certain age (ie OLD)
I still like games.
I don't want the latest and greatest multiplayer experience. If I want MMO, I play MMO. I like a story. The story can be bad(loved F.E.A.R. and the sequel).
Lastly, co-op is only good as a last resort. None of my mates will play with me. (they all use cheat codes, I play hardcore...and cry)
I can't be the only one. AAA games are becoming the domain of spoilt kids who have the bandwidth.
Games that made me feel this way? Sup Com 2, DoW2, Sanctum.
Apologies if this is rehash of an old post.
Seems like the friends are the problem not the mechanic. Games need to go back to the NES roots where they were fun and playable alone but more fun together and specifically we need more local co-op rather than online. I do enjoy online and all but what ever happened to actually spending time with someone in the same room? It is my view that there should never be a single player game that features multiple characters in the party/squad w/e, there should always be the OPTION for co-op.
Again please don't blame co-op for why games are bad there are far greater reasons. And to be honest most games are really great but the community is largely negative.
Portal 2 although awesome in both single player and co-op is kind of a side step on the issue as the single player and co-op segments are totally separate. Things should be more like Contra or at least Jet Force Gemini in my opinion when it comes to co-op.Richardplex said:IF you have a friend who can play with you, co-op is good. Even as your opinion, I say your completely wrong on this. Forcing co-op is wrong. Having the option is good. Portal 2 shows this, the co-op was more fun than the SP.
