Why did everyone say M$ sucked at E3?

I don't give a crap about Kinect and the show didn't convince me otherwise. The same for Modern Warfare 3. And Halo, but at least it was the first game. I vaguely remember enjoying it years ago, but I don't have Xbox Live and never will. Hey MS, wanna impress me? Make online play free.

They had 1 big exclusive game (Gears 3) and 1 trailer for a game coming out in 18 months (Halo 4). The rest of their conference was stuff no one cared about in the least. Youtube on my xbox? Hurray! Now I don't have to turn my chair 180 degrees to watch cats run into walls on my PC right behind me. Woohoo?

Then there was the laughable Kinect stuff. Seriously, Kinect Disneyland? REALLY? Kinect Star Wars was another one. That may be the single worst game I have ever seen at E3.

Because it was noting but shovelware and M$ telling us how they're going to shoehorn Kinect into actual games e.g. Mass Effect 3, Fable.

If you were an investor at the company, then no, the presentation did not suck at all. If you were one of the mainstream press people (NYT, Washington Post, etc) then the presentation did not suck because they showed off some stuff that will probably sell quite well, and the mainstream press aren't hard core video game players.

For hard core players, there wasn't much on offer aside from remastered Halo 1 and a new Halo Trilogy. Everything else was kind of pointless for hard-core gamers. I don't really care about the new dashboard, and I don't use netflix or use my 360 to watch movies (I have a Media PC for that, which works quite well) and I don't have children to play a lot of that Kinect suff (and a lot of it is aimed at kids and families).

I wouldn't say it was an awful presentation - unlike Ubisoft's "Mr. Caffeine" - but I will say that it did not provide stuff that probably most people on this site will care about. Cookie Monster's great and all, but I'm not going to buy a Kinect for that. Same with Disney Land stuff. The only thing out of that press conference that I cared about remotely was Halo (I sort-of-like the Halo series, so a new Halo game isn't unwelcome).

In Short: Presentation was not bad if you were investor/casual gamer/mainstream press. Presentation was boring if you were a hard-core gamer looking for something exciting. It wasn't awful for us hard-core gamers..... just boring.

At least with M$ they stick with kinect...Hell sony seems to have barely covered the move in their E3
So...sticking with something that doesn't work is better than phasing it out and moving on to something else?
In a sense yes....Why bother with Sonys next project if their so quick to abandon ship on this one
Why bother with Microsoft's next project if they won't have anything interesting to do with it?

All 3 showcases sucked. Nintendo was the lesser of all evils because they had footage of awesome games coming for the 3DS. Sony was ok, The TV was a great announcement and the Vita was cool, but mostly stuff we'd already seen. Microsoft was just terrible. I have no interest in Kinect so everything they did that was related to Kinect was not only awful but of no use to me. The only good announcement from E3 was Halo anniversary and Halo 4. Although both were leaked before the show so it didn't have the big impact.

My 2 cents.

Also Disneyland Adventures...really? and those kids pretending to have fun? My God that was horrifying to watch.

A lot of it just seemed a bit ridiculous quite honestly, like they were just trying to shove Kinect into everything. Bioware's 'OH LOOK IN MASS EFFECT 3 YOU CAN SAY STUFF OUT LOUD AND YOUR CHARACTER WILL SAY SOMETHING COMPLETELY DIFFERENT, ISN'T THAT SO IMMERSIVE?' was especially stupid.

I like how most people bitched by saying that Microsoft wouldn't support Kinect.

But then - BAM - they support Kinect and you all get pissed off.

Frankly, I liked the conference. The new Halo's are exciting. And some of the Kinect games looked cool. Also the Kinect support for ME3 is pretty sweet as well.

I think, the only thing that I really gave a damn about as far as the kinect was the gunsmith for the new ghost recon.
Besides that, it wasn't anything too exciting.

I say about Kinect the same thing I've always said. Good games or not, it is at least an interesting piece of kit unlike the Move. See for example all the wacky uses people come up with for it which get posted on the Escapist. Other than that, I just generally hate E3 for lots of reasons I won't go into here.

Kinect and Halo... Need I say more?
Halo is Bungie, which is large enough to no longer need funding or aiding by MS now. Surprised no-one has pointed this out yet.
While the rest of your post is very informative and well thought out, I must correct you here. Halo is anything but Bungie now, as they gave up the rights to it to Microsoft when they 'split'. The new Halo games are being created by 343 Studios I believe, who have been responsible for all things Halo for a while now.

IMHO all of E3 pretty much blew this year. There were maybe two good reveals and the rest was just stuff we already knew about.
Pretty much how i felt about it this year, and kind of how i felt it would be prior. It was an unbelievably dull e3 it's become a sequal/spinoff showcase. And i'll be honest i'm sick of the lack of original iP's and the handful i saw i was genuinely interested in.

Then i saw BIA: Furious 4 and it was just the perfect example of how disgusting the industry has become with sequals. Some of them don't even make sense.

Also i love my 360 but microsoft was complete shit at e3 just utter shit.

I have a better question

Why is it that the majority of the escapist won't seem to stop saying 'M$' instead of either MS or Microsoft. M$ is for trolls.

Who the hell are all these people buying Kinect, did they get the old housewives market or something? All I know is I personally don't want one and am not interested in any games for it.
As of E3, you can count me among their number. I don't have one yet, but you bet I will when Disneyland Adventures comes out. That one game has sold me on Kinect.

Wasn't the most appealing thing about Kinect is what you could do with it that Micro$oft hadn't intended?

Because they're the only ones who charge for stuff everyone else can get free?

They made ODST a full price game?

They don't have a good track record.

I went in expecting games and found instead kinect. I just sort of closed the tab I had and looked to see if there was any new information regarding Silent Hill, Battlefield 3, Never Dead, or Asura's Wrath.

I didn't watch it myself, but I get the impression from other people that it neglected the core gamer.

Did Sony have anything of interest at e3 at all? All that springs to mind is uncharted, and I loathe uncharted in pretty much every way and think its only redeeming feature is the fact its quite pretty.
I don't see how MS's was any worse than theirs.
3D tv that has some sort of tech that allows splitscreen players to be viewing two separate fullscreens at the same time. Its going to be revolutionary with coop games.

They also showed the Vita, that has some similarities with the WiiU with its connectivity with the PS3. The biggest announcement with it was the pricing. $250 for the standard version, same price as the 3DS.

Although they didn't spotlight it like last year, they made big mention of the Move. Bioshock Inifinte will support it, the new FPS MMO thing that CCP is making (Dust 514 or something) will support it, the creators of Sports Champions made an action adventue gam supporting it, and lastly Resistance 3 and NBA 2K12. (I'm baffled at why they did not show Socery)

Other things are that BF3 will include BF 1943 with every purchase only on PS3, and Bioshock Infinte will come with the original Bioshock for free also.
