Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 & 2.

Tough as nails a couple of years ago.

Comparatively easier a few weeks ago.

The Reaper battle on Rannoch in ME3. Tried rolling to avoid the beam, killed every time. Rage. Go back a few hours later, and have Shepard sprint back and forth across the arena. Nailed it first time. I don't know why I didn't think of that before.

Also, the second dungeon of any GBC Zelda game. For some reason, I always found them difficult as a kid; specifically, finding the Nightmare's Lair in Link's Awakening (Bottle Grotto), the room with the vanishing chest on a time limit in Oracle of Seasons (Snake's Remains) and the boss itself in Oracle of Ages (Wing Dungeon), which used up a ton of bombs. When I came back and replayed them years later, I breezed through them.

In Final Fantasy VIII, that part where you have to decouple the train cars. They give you four numbers corresponding to the Playstation buttons. I used to have to write down a cheat sheet for which number corresponded to which button. I just played that a few days ago and it was too easy and no cheat sheet. I literally asked myself, "why was that so easy this time?"

GTA IV

Pretty early into the game, there's a mission called "No Love Lost" where the player is instructed to kill someone, seemingly during a motorcycle chase ... I kept smashing, crashing, dying and crying.

Eventually I did some reading online and discovered that, like almost all such GTA IV chases, the the target is seemingly (and inexplicably) almost indestructible for the lion's share of the chase After a chase, however, the target almost always comes to a place where they slow down and can be readily killed.

Now motorcycles come after only helicopters as my favorite mode of transportation, and I know that any difficult chase will likely result in an easy kill.

Yay.

Odin Sphere and Muramasa Demon Blade had this effect on me after I had finished them on the highest difficulty. For those of you who haven't tried it yet, the highest difficulty leaves you with 1 hp (or the inability to increase your max hp in Odin Sphere). Once I learned how to beat all the bosses without ever getting hit, it made me wonder why I had ever needed all those healing items in the first place.

OT: Actully when I was playing Dark souls for the first time I had a lot of trouble with the Taruas demon(First boss, the bull thing).
He killed me a few times and I had no idea how to fight him untill I saw a video that showed me I could climb that tower.

Now though, I could easily kill him on my own with just a dagger. Although I can only hope that ease comes over to Andor Londo, I still haven't been able to get myself playing after being so annoyed with the Gargoyles and Archers.
Hope that you don't have a problem with Dark Knights, the place is filled with slightly downgraded versions of them called Silver Knights. Truth be told though while it is tough it's a hell of a lot easier once you get past the first two archers...oh yeah and then there's Dragonslayer Ornstein and Executioner Smough. Advice, summon two friendly phantoms before you even consider fighting them, these two make the Iron Golem look like a calkwalk. The bonfire inside the castle is a major hotspot for them.

Well I never had any problems with the iron golem but if there is one weakness I have in games like this, it's having to fight multiple tough enemies at once. It may be a while before I pick it up again though. Im building a straight warrior, how much trouble will I have?
Also I have next to no trouble with black knights and actully consider them rewards since killing them gives me a small chance of being able to loot their awesome gear.

The Assignment Ada minigame from Resident Evil 4. When I first played it on the PS2, I nearly flung my controller against the wall multiple times before finally beating it. But the first time I played the HD version, I made through on the first try (if you die, you start ALL over you see).

Rugrats Search For Reptar.

Couldn't get to Reptar on Toy Palace, as i couldn't find the last box to climb on. Played it 2 months later and found the last box really easily.

Well here's the thing, on their own, you probably wouldn't have too much trouble with the Dragonslayer and you defiantly wouldn't have any problems with the Executioner, but they do attack you at the same time. Also, when you kill one, the other absorbs some of his powers and regains all of their health. Take my advice, summon two Phantoms to help you, and for the love of god, KILL THE DRAGON SLAYER FIRST! If you do all the executioner does is gain a lighting attack or two, if you kill the executioner, the Dragonslayer grows to massive size and developed an entirely new move set, is much tougher, and he had higher armor to begin with. It's manageable with help, but damn near impossible without.

Mine has to be the Stone Tower Temple from Majora's Mask. It's essentially two temples rolled into one, and it always tripped me up when I was younger. Now, maybe because I'm older, wiser, and all around more intelligent, or because I've played through the game so many times, it's a cake-walk.

Why does everyone keep saying the water temple is impossible anyway? I never understood. It pretty straight foward keep moving and back track as little as possible. Now the desert temple that was a pain in the ass.
The problem with the Water Temple, I think, isn't that it's inherently difficult if you know what you're doing, it's that it's brutally unforgiving if you slip up even once. Then, you have to backtrack, which is tedious and annoying and God fucking damn, what with raising the water levels, going to the inventory every time you want to change your boots, ugh.

beyone good and Evil HD... maybe it was because I originally played it on pc with mouse and keyboard, but in the live arcade rmemake, areas that had me frustrated were easy as pie

Pretty much any singleplayer campaign of a game that's multiplayer. Battlefield, Halo, Uncharted, Half-Life, whatever. Multiplayer is just oodles harder compared to your first singleplayer run-through.

Sure, but mostly on games from my childhood, and a lot of it is due to the fact that I have internet now and can look up combos that break the game in half.
On a more recent note, the Last Stand minigame from Plants Vs. Zombies has become a lot easier recently. Then again, that probably has to do with the fact that Tallnut,Garlic,Gloom Shrooms,Magnet Shrooms and Lillypads provide pretty much all the cover you'll need to win that minigame.

Tower of Leires in Legend of Mana.

As a teenager, that place annoyed the shit outta me. Just a friggin maze that I could never figure out. I did, however, manage to get quite a few items from there that sold very nicely.

Downloaded the game onto my newly bought PS3 and I just rolled that place. Just took my time and made better decisions than what I did years before.

First time I fought him I was playing a Mage, didn't know how to kill him. Fired a few magic missles at him, stood on the opposite end of where the bridge was destroyed and he jumped back.

You Defeated.

Wait... what?

As for me it was FF Tactics. First time I played that a good 3 years ago I found the mechanics annoying, difficult, I didn't like it and I didn't want to play anymore.

I bought it on PSN network this year and tried it out and I love it. Monks are so OP in that game.

EDIT: The bonfire is a lie.
Not really though. You just gotta drop from a ledge down on a balcony up where that one giant is throwing down fire bombs. There's a place where the wall's broken down.

OT: I guess i had that feeling a lot in Dark Souls. Most prominently against the Moonlight Butterfly because i think i encountered it too early for what the game intended, but once i found the proper way to dance around its attacks i beat it without losing any health at all. Just left me thinking "Really? It was that FUCKING easy?! :/"

Also the Hydra. Even if you're a mage you shouldn't fight it at long(er) range.
Woo go me! Just moved on to Anor Londo today, now there are Sauron knockoffs firing swords (not arrows. Swords!) at me on several impossibly tiny ledges... One touch fucking death :/

I know there's a bloody bonfire just round the corner as well. Walkthoughs, Y U taunt me so?!
