Digimon World 3. It's like Pokemon and Final Fantasy rolled into one.

I remember playing the game off and on for a few years when I was young. I never actually beat it, even to this day. I remember I had to have had almost 100 hours tacked onto the profile I was using. I could have sworn a lot more training was required than what it taqkes me now to beat bosses, but I could probably relate that to simply having had less patience when I was younger, so grinding seemed like it took forever.

Fuck Yeah, Lv.99 Black WarGreymon.

This happen to me quite often during the Snes and the Xbox/ Gamecube era.
One of them was trying to complete the final level in Unreal Touranment where I was up against Xan who is like the final boss in this spaceship map. He was a pain in the ass to beat as he beat my ass too many time.
I spend a week or two off the game and when I got back on I thought I will give it a go for sheer luck. That time I was doing alot better and I just barely won the level (15/ 14 to me). I think I won because I was more relax/ natural about it as oppse to getting tense/ under pressure about it.

Resident Evil Code Veronica X. The very last puzzle had me stumped for MONTHS and I couldn't find any help with it online. As far as I was concerned, it was physically impossible to do. I knew what it wanted me to do (retrieve 2 gems out of a statue and use them to open 2 boxes so I could remove an item from 1 and place it into the other), but it was impossible because the statue would turn after you removed 1 of the gems, making the other impossible to get at. You also couldn't take the item from the box, then relock the box and put the gem back in the statue, because the box wouldn't close without the item in it, so you NEEDED to take both gems at the same time.

Eventually someone told me the solution and I fucking kicked myself; turn off the generator powering the entire building, remove both gems whilst the statue is powered down. Yeah, I hated that puzzle.

Other times I tend to have the opposite effect though, I go back to a game I haven't played for ages and suddenly find it more difficult. I had this happen with Half Life 2 at one point (up against a ton of Striders) and more recently with Wipeout HD Fury (I used to be unbeatable at eliminator mode, now I can barely surive it).

EDIT: The bonfire is a lie.
Not really though. You just gotta drop from a ledge down on a balcony up where that one giant is throwing down fire bombs. There's a place where the wall's broken down.

OT: I guess i had that feeling a lot in Dark Souls. Most prominently against the Moonlight Butterfly because i think i encountered it too early for what the game intended, but once i found the proper way to dance around its attacks i beat it without losing any health at all. Just left me thinking "Really? It was that FUCKING easy?! :/"

Also the Hydra. Even if you're a mage you shouldn't fight it at long(er) range.
Woo go me! Just moved on to Anor Londo today, now there are Sauron knockoffs firing swords (not arrows. Swords!) at me on several impossibly tiny ledges... One touch fucking death :/

I know there's a bloody bonfire just round the corner as well. Walkthoughs, Y U taunt me so?!
I recommend taking our the one on the right first so he doesn't one-shot you off the ledge after you kill the left one. Pissed me off when that happened >_>

Also, lots of running to get up to them and then counter attacks (when they pull swords, mind you). I swear the silver knight (sauron clones) have some of the easiest to counter attacks in the game.

Kingdom hearts 1 ad Shogu 2 both sat unplayed for like six months agter i first tried them. Then i'd be be bored ad try them again and wonder what put me off og them before... I am now an adamant fan of both franchises.

Had the reverse of that earlier today playing sanctum. Whizzed through the game first time i played it. tried to play it again today and barely cleared the first level.

Alright, feel free to laugh at me cause I know after reading it you all will.

Me and my uncle couldn't get past the first wave of hell-hounds in Call of Duty Black Ops. We'd buy a gun off the wall after hearing that they were coming than quickly huddle together, but we'd get owned in a matter of seconds.

Alternatively, I just beat Golden Axe 3 alone and without dying once.

I remember playing the level 'The Maw' in Halo on legendary back in 2002 and could never get finish the level because of that part at the end with the warthog. A few years ago I pulled it back out, gave it one look and stuck it in the Xbox. Did the entire level first go.

I was never able to finish Metroid Prime's, well, Metroid Prime the first time I played the game. On rare occasions I got to the second stage, but he'd murder me too quickly.

At one point I tried so often that I didn't boot the game again until the second game came out, and before I started that I really wanted to finish the first.

So I gave it another go, and beat Prime in one try. I was pretty flabbergasted.

A lengthy playthrough of Sim City 2000. I had a revenue generating megapolis with multiple launch Arcologies constructed. I finally stopped out of boredom. Leaving me utterly baffled as to why my previous attempts all ended in urban decay and using the money cheat code.

Also, Myst. I'd played it at friends' over the course of years but even puzzles that I had never done seemed pretty easy.

The first thing that comes to my mind is Whitney from Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal (yes, THAT Whitney with THAT Miltank). When I was younger, I would black/white out before beating her the second time. Nowadays, I can get past her and that Miltank with little trouble.

I remember being stuck on the first Super Mario World boss for months. Recently I went back and beat the entire game in about half an hour.

sigh that fucking miltank. Yeah, that was a *****. I felt that the first gym in black / white was very unforgiving too.

Recently reinstalled Republic Commando on my new PC. Somehow I sped through half the game like nothing when a few years before I could only ever finish the Kashyyyk part with cheats...
Kashyyyk kicked my ass multiple time's, I only ever beat it with the power of cheats

OT: Mine would be Dark Souls too, I got it for Christmas, raged and didn't play it for about two month's. Then I put it back in, and am now on NG+++ with my 2nd character. It's just memory and a lot of patience to beat that game
