Honestly, I didn't try to get it, got given to me as a present by my dad.

It's actually surprising that he can pick out good games without having ever gamed, past examples include crimson skies and condemned 2.

I didn't even know that there was sex in the game, and never found out until someone told me, by which time it was too late since Williams died for me...

Firstly because it was made by Bioware, and secondly because they are so many different ways to play it. Played it through three times now and the experience hasn't become tiredsome yet. Admitedly I did skip the cutscenes and what not the second and third times but I saw them the first time, I knew what was going to happen.

I played it because I'd heard about it on a forum about six months before its release, saw a trailer for it and got addicted.

I was running out of RPG's and had heard that this one was really good. It turned out to be true. I thought the combat system was brilliant, the gameplay was fun and the "sex" was ... alright. Honetly though, I hadn't heard of any of that before I bought it. I had just heard it was good.

The only Bioware game I played before ME was Jade Empire. I'm sure it was a good game but it didn't 'fit' very well on the PC. I bought ME because the reviews were good and I was attracted to the potential for some genuine science fiction (rather than banal fantasy cliches hurled into space). So far, that's what I've got - tons of depth. Loving it.

Not for the vehicle sections, that's for sure. Driving is supposed to be easier in games than in real life! Not the other way around!

Apart from that, it's got all the depth an RPG is supposed to have, but with far better and more interesting combat. That's why I played it.

I bought it cause it looked good and seemed fun, and it did and it was...

Hadn't heard anything about the "sex" part and didn't really care, it wasn't even a big deal... I guess these 12-year-olds that freaked out have never heard of porn sites...

LOL @ noob. Seriously, though, I have no problems driving the Mako... I keep trying to figure out why others do.

As for why I play Mass Effect, well, I'm not really one for RPGs but I was favourably impressed by KotOR and the previews I saw for ME looked pretty good. And it's a fun little 3PS as well, despite the really stupid AI.

It was a bit confusing having completely different controls to how vehicles control in most games. Plus, they tried to make the controls similar to how you control your character on foot, but that sort of control scheme only really works on foot, where you can change direction instantly.

I liked the idea of a RPG with a sci-fi setting, enjoyed the storyline, and the soundtrack is amazing.

A sci-fi RPG with guns? Yes please. I love both the idea and the game so far; I haven't finished it yet because of my broken GFx card.
