I like thier new stuff. Minutes to Midnight, Thousand Suns, all of it. I like it. I listen to their new stuff. While I'm editing videos I'll listen to New Divide and Waiting For the End. But a lot of people complain that they've gotten whiny and crap like that. I like it. Bands evolve. That's what life is like. You gotta adapt or die.

My fellow Excapists, what do you think about their newer music?

You answered your own question as to why people don't like their newer music.

And to answer your question if I do or not: I don't. It's whiny and crap.

In my defense I never really liked any of their older stuff either.

I actually haven't heard a Linkin Park song in years. I was never a big fan of the band. There were really only one and a half songs I liked.

I enjoyed My December and the half is I liked One Step Closer until he just starts screaming "shutup" over and over again.

I haven't heard their newest album yet, so I can't make any judgement on that material.

As for Minutes to Midnight, it's alright. I'll still listen to it, but I'm more of a fan of their earlier work. Especially Hybrid Theory. Definitely my favorite album of theirs. That was the first CD that I ever listened to and owned that wasn't Christian rock/pop. That CD basically changed my musical taste forever. So it holds a special place in my musical heart.

Although I did state that people said that, that's what I've heard. I was wondeirng if anyone had any different reasons.

And I can agree that it's a bit whiny, but they've always been a bit whiny. When I first heard Waiting For The End (a dark winter morning before heading off to school) I was confused as hell. I didn't think it was them. But it was them. And though it sounded different, it wasn't the different that My Chemical Romance became. Linkin Park are still Linkin Park. My Chemical Romance became an entirely different band.

The time Linkin Park first came is around the time I began listening to Iron Maiden and Iced Earth. Those two bands saved me from the ignorance and horrendous noise that is that wannabee cross-over band. The lead singer sounds like he's forever in puberty.

And they butchered the Transformers song. Long live power metal.

Meh. It's not awful, but I'd much rather listen to the heavier mix of rock/rap that they were before. If I was in a more mellow mood, possibly.

I like their old and new stuff. The new music is completely different but bands just change over the years. A Thousand Suns is one of my favorite albums by any band.

People dislike their new stuff because it's such a departure from their old style. They wanted more music like what they used to make, but got something different, and they were upset.

Personally, I enjoy both styles. I listen to Hybrid Theory and Meteora when I want something harder, and Thousand Suns when I'm in the mood for something soft. I didn't much care for Minutes to Midnight, but Thousand Suns is a great album.

They've always been a bit whiny, yes, but they used to have an edge. They dropped the edge and now it's just whine.

They have that new single that plays on the radio every now and then, can't remember the name but it doesn't sound like them, and I rather like it. I'm not a huge fan of theirs, but some of their better singles I like.

Meteora is my favorite album by Linkin Park. I've have all their stuff and the reason why there are complaints is because their latest album is a HUGE step in another direction. It's a concept album about nuclear warfare. With a lot of emphasis on techno. I mean each album has been a bit different but there usually was a sense that they were still there. I mean I didn't mind A Thousand Suns but none of the singles on that album can measure up to "Crawling", "In the End", "Numb" or "Given Up".

I'm actually open to band changing throughout its career.

But in my opinion, its latest album is horrible. It has nothing to do with 'Old Linkin Park is better than New Linkin Park..' It's just so abysmal. Waiting for the End is a nice song though.

New Divide is a song I wish they never wrote. Then again, I should be glad that Linkin Park didn't waste a good song to feature as soundtrack for shitty movie that is Transformers 2...

And there we have it, I liked their old style but this new whiny stuff isn't my cup of tea.
Girls seem to like it immensely tho... maybe it's worth it just for that.
