Almost every american game has one relationship can any one tell me why? I find it irritating. How many times hav we not seen it? Do you like it? In that case, why?
Almost every non-American who posts here has one glaring spelling error can anyone tell me why? I find it irritating. How many times hav we not seen it? Do you like it? In that case why?

Actually I should think AC will have a Desmond/Lucy relationship in the series at some point - even if it didn't in the first.

Let's see now...

Duke Nukem was in love with himself and his overcompensatingly awesome firearms

Gordon Freeman was in love with his crowbar

Master Chief was in love with his armour

Louis was in love with his pills

Sam Fisher was in love with the shadows

Jack Carver was in love with his Hawaiian shirt

The elite crew guy from the terrorist force in counter-strike...source, was in love with his...sweet goatee

And that's about as much cleverness as I can come up with right now...HARRY WAS IN LOVE WITH HIS PITS!

I see your point and I think it's cliched and just fucking stupid whenever there is EVER a trace of romance in a game (Aside from mario and princess peach, I feel like I should give them a free ride). But to be fair it's not just Americans who do it, look up a Japanese eroge game and you'll see that games the Japanese make have more have love in them than any other video games.
Uhm, Far Cry were developed by Crytek, and they are Germans... Nice list though.

OT: Oh yeah, I can really feel the homo erotica between Gaz, Captain Price and Soap in CoD 4.

Yeah, I didn't mean the other Assassin's Creed's... ACII is definitely going to have relationships (what with Ubisoft raving so much about how Ezio is so much more "human" than Altair...) but AC1 certainly had no real relationships in it.

JRPGs have far more romance and love stories than any American, or Western made game that I have seen.

Please tell me which, I love romance-ish things. The only one I can think of is mass effect, and now dragon age: origins.
Those games are both made in Canada, not America.

Because many video games have these creatures in it called humans. Now you see, humans do this thing where they find someone who makes them happier than all others and they try very hard to make this other human wish to spend time with them. It is called love.

Wow I love the generalization...

Obviously not all games do. I've played a couple that do and many more that didn't.

Because the Japanese recognise that humanity is a social creature which can express itself without using bullets.

LBP. COD. Haze. Halo. CSS. TF2. Borderlands. Pretty much every racing game.

I could go on for a while, but you see my point.

because love is an easy emotion to portray and it lets the developers avoid awkward homophobic jokes (see Army of Two). Yeah, we Americans have a long history of including romance in our entertainment unnecessarily.

Not that I have a thing against romance. Hitchcock did it well, but it kinda gets old after a while

Bad generalization. Only maybe 15% of games do. Less than movies, and has nothing to do w/ being American made.

I dunno, why are you not working at a game company if your so brilliant?

Because, a love intrest is something for the protagonist to strive to get, A popular theme in all of western culture
