"Why do I keep doing this?" Small mannerisms of yourself that annoy you

Aside from the mild OCD that I share with every single member of the Escapist (perhaps it's some sort of subliminal requirement to join the Escapist) and the nail biting (hmm, this too), I'd say I fidget too much. Everything around me I will fidget with. Without realising it I'll take pens apart and break up lollypop sticks and make patterns with them. I once did a mock interview in college (trying to teach engineering students social skills) and the woman who was trying to help told me to just sit on my hands.

Bleurgh I find that very unpleasant. But I've gotten really into cracking my elbows lately.

I don't know. Completely illogical. I just feel like something could go horribly wrong cracking your neck.

I reload after every kill, even if I know there's someone coming. I just tap the damn reload button.

I do that a lot as well. It was especially annoying in CoD 4 when I used the LMGs. I eventually just got into the habit of tapping the reload button and then switching to my pistol and back because it was faster then waiting to reload.

I also used to bite my nails, but I managed to get over that habit.

Playing hours of video games, and be sitting normally.

But no matter what, after 2 hours of sitting it always ends up with me basically lying down on the chair, and one hand in my pants.

I've gotten over nail-biting but I still crack my knuckles... Also I laugh when I'm nervous which makes people stare at me, which makes me more nervous, et cetera. Embarassing AND annoying. ;D

I bite my fingers, rather than nail-biting... so sometimes I won't be able to touch the sides of my fingers, after taking down one-too-many layers of skin;
I also do the 'thinking chin rub' constantly;
I'll twirl things around in my fingers (pen/pencil, dice, eraser, ect.);
I'm constantly adjusting my glasses and if I ever get to randomly touching fingers against something (say tapping on my desk in time to music) I will find a pattern to it (or make a pattern to it) and will continue until the pattern 'ends' which may be a while.

- Kicking my modem without noticing(it's under my computer) thusly sending my TV, Computer, and phone into a fit.

i tried to crack my elbow once, but i'm pretty sure i pinched a nerve or something because i got so dizzy that i fell over. i literally could not stand up for about 5 minutes.

then i barf'd.

When I focus on something I extend my tounge quite a bit from my mouth.

Whenever I go to the toilet, I always double check if I've locked the door by trying to opening it, which often results in someone, if they walk by, thinking I've locked myself in and I have to tell them that it's not the case.

I tend to sit in my chair with my feet on it.
I do the classic nail biting,course I also bite my finger skin itself.
I do not fear max,oddly enough,I do enjoy his company on the escapsit though
I am prone to low-level breakdowns over nothing.

Things have to be symmetrical and in order. Also things like, if for example, I scratch just above my right thumb, I have to sctratch just above my left thumb. Or if I turn something left, I have to put it back forward and then turn it to the right and keep doing that untill it feels right.

I have to put cranyons, markers, and other colored items in rainbow order, or else it really bothers me. I don't know why. I check my door locks at least three times before I can go to sleep. When I am in a store I have to touch random items. My husband finds this one hilarious. Oh also, whenever I enter a new room and/or place, I look immediately for various exits, and possible weapons.

I recently grew my hair a bit, so I'm constantly raking it sideways out of my eyes 'cause it gives me headaches. And recently, while sitting, I've started drumming random beats on my knees/thighs, even though I don't know the first thing about the drums.
