Sorry that happened, I can't really relate, but I definitely understand. The jocks in my school were given special treatment, some teachers looked more kindly on them, they got away with being absolute douchebags, disrupting the class and making fun of everyone. I was in a public school, but ass hats exist everywhere.

As I understand it, schools don't really give a shit about you if you're not bringing them some sort of glory, either you're the top of the class or you play sports or what have you.
It sucks but you move on, become successful then show up to your ten year reunion drunk, and rub it all in their faces how much better you are then them.

At least that's what I plan to do.

The unfortunate fact is that this is not true even half the time. Most of the time they get in with their father's or mother's or uncle's company or something and end up being successful. Don't even bother with reunions, just forget about high school and move on.

Were they really doing that for no reason? Like, honestly no reason, you didn't backchat them or call them stupid did you?
It is 7th grade. Everyone is a monster.

First off, strangling someone is take it a step too far. But punching the fools teeth out would probably have been adequate.

Second of all, take up some sort of martial art, it helps relieve stress, anger and it allows you to snap a wrist next time someone starts a fight.

ive always wondered that, sorry i dont have an answer for beyond the ways of "their fucking retarted from too many tackles to the head"
anyway i understand (most people usually do) where you are coming from, from 3rd grade on, I was pretty much the target for bullies and such because i was "the nerd"
but after i had a meltdown in 9th grade they all seemed to back off. I asked a friend who was like my "spy" at the time.(this was a guy who used to bully me and now felt bad about it and we became friends) and he said it was because they all saw me as like a kid who would shoot up the school. so moral of the story, people dont fuck with crazy people XD

Probably because if they don't want to lose. If they actually got off their asses and tried to prevent bullying and all that their star players would end up suspended the majority of the time and jocks hate to lose. Thats just my guess anyway.
This, almost got my nose broken last year by the (then) star of the U15 rugby A team (now star of the U16 rugby A team). It was 'merely a boyish accident.' WTF?

Earlier this year I took the piss out of him playing rugby* and he told the teacher. I was given a 'warning that bullying is not and never will be tolerated at this school'

'So, you play rugby a lot?
>Yes.

You enjoy it?

>Duh.

You often play when the pitches are muddy?

>'kaysionaly. (occasionally)

'SOO... you enjoy often going out onto the field with a group of other well muscled teenagers; Then you chase each other, grappling and trying to pull each other to the floor so more can pile on top. All in the attempts to grab someones ball?

Then you go back inside with the now sweaty and dirty players and strip off in the shower together...

>Oi! You saying that I'm Gay or summat?

>>Jonty! Why are you talking when I'm talking?

>Sir, He is saying that I'm Gay.

First off! Its WHETHER, not WEATHER. Unles you can make it rain, you're not getting picked on because of the earthly forces of nature.

.... of of course by that I mean I'm joking. XD I'm not a grammar nazi or I'd have to nazi myself.

Anyway, OT, first off, you try to physically assault someone in a way that would lead to death. Now, I understand that you could have been seriously hurt with the rope climbing stunt, because we had something like that happen at our school, and the kid became a parapelegic (I dont know how you spell it. He cant use his body from the waist down). So thats probably why THAT time, you got a worse punishment.

The other times.... dude... they're football players. That brings in the school's money and grants, the sports programs. you cant have anything happening to your star players. If they get in trouble, or have sub par grades, then its going ot reflect on the money the school brings in and the parental support at PTA meetings and such. Thats why jocks (football in particular if you're american) get more warnings, more attention and help with grades, and teachers are more lenient on them test wise. And when a teacher isnt, the principal has a talk with the teacher and tries to convince the of it (dont bullshit me and tell it doesnt happen, I've seen it happen. The only reason the teacher wasnt forced to retire was because he had been at the school for 30+ years and could pretty much do anyhting with the tenure he held. So he still fails those muscle headed dicks out of their sports. Teach them).

Face it, the school is not a charity. There are no free rides. THe school is a business (in the most sad and round about way). You dont want your selling product to be off the market. Its sad, its not much consilation, I know. But life sucks that way. Thats why I took up hockey (and trust me, those are some of the most humble sports stars you'll meet in America, cause NO ONE cares about high school hockey when the other Big 3 are in town [Football, Baseball, basketball. you could sometimes through wrestling or soccer in there too depending how good the prgram is]), because it toughened me up to face the football players and gave me a crowd to roll with if any of the football players decided they had what it took to try me.

And as toward your Archery thing, of course the school doesnt want you to do that. Thats like saying, "oka, sign me up for the rifling club" (yes, we have one, and yes, its awesome to be able to bring guns to school. Football players arent so tough staring down the barrel of an 1884 Winchester). They expected you to take up something like computing, or... chess, or.... debate. Something that wouldnt give you (in their eyes) the training and means to kill someone with a weapon that you may legally own for sake of competition and membership in the club.

My honest advice on this would be go to a different school. And of course I say that because thats the opposite of what I would do. ME personally, I would go and find ever football player off school campus and show them what it means to pick on someone, but unless you've got some minor combat training or and edge, I dont recommend it. However, since I know transferring out of a school is tough (and this school pretty much just screwed you and your chances at getting into a really good (big name, cause no college is really better, its about hte student and their courses) college unless you bust out some REALLY good grades (3.75+ gpa) and probably not something you want to do, You'll just have to get tougher and learn to fight back without killing them or making an action that would kill them.

But thats just me speaking my experience in this, because I was in your shoes in highschool (freshman second semester in college now).

Now if they told him not to do Archery (or suggested it) why would they be cool with him learning Karate, since the common misconception is once you learn it, you turn into Jackie Chan?

Okay yeah this is a life story but it has a point

I've been beaten up my whole life (weather it be because I'm weird, because I'm poor, or because I'm 18 and have never had a girlfriend)

but in 7th grade (weird/poor) things went too far

the Football team would always hold me down and take turns hitting me
or pelting me with tennis and baseballs

scares bruises and black eyes everywhere

the teachers said "they're just boys being boys"

then one day at the gym, we were doing the rope climb
you climb this really tall rope, ring the bell, then fall onto this really soft cooshy pad so you don't have to climb all the way back down (the pad itself was like 4-5 feet tall, and felt like a tempurpedic bed)

well I rang the bell and slid down the rope a little (because I didn't trust them for a reason) then about half way down the rope I let go and fell for the pad

the quarterback then proceeded to pull the pad out from under me and I hit the hard-wood floor with a loud thud

everyone laughed

I then lost my temper and garroted the quarterback with the rope (wrapped it around his neck and pulled tight) yelling that he would never do that again

then things became very serious; the teacher yelled at the class to "get him off of him" and well yeah you can see where things went

in the end, I got expelled for hurting the quarterback
and when I showed the bruises, crutches, and scars and told them how I got them they said "it's one thing to harm the student body, it's another thing to make up stories to justify it"

...the principal then tried to convince me to take up something to relieve my anger such as football, or baseball, or soccer...

goes to show what a jock he was as well

off note: I ended up taking archery in boyscouts and was the only one that could bullseye every time on the 20 yard target... I was told that I shouldn't take an anger outlet that would let me kill people from 60 feet away with a sharp stick

EDIT: Crap I forgot the question; why is it that the jocks can get away with ANYTHING but the second I defend myself after being badly injured (with 33 witnesses mind you) I get in major trouble?

EDIT 2: sorry actually I wasn't "expelled" I was just "suspended" for a quarter of the year

when I got back the jocks started beating me with bricks (apparently a drunk driver hit the wall next to the church or something)

and I just ran into the office as fast as I could and the second the principal heard my voice and the phrase "law suit"

well...
we had a talk

then I was suspended for my own safety

because he didn't want me to be in an environment where I could get hurt
(you know, because punishing the victim is TOTALLY what you're supposed to do... not punish the [4] offenders!)
Fucking sue the school out of EVERYTHING.

Oh and the bullies too. Putting them out on the street would be doing the world a HUGE favor.

It's just my experience that very few things happen in isolation. It's also my experience that a lot of teenagers aren't particularly good at realising what signals they're giving off.
There's also the fact that the OP considers garroting a form of "self defense". There's nothing defensive about garroting. It's retaliation pure and simple.

I don't live in the USA and the only knowledge on US Highschools comes from popculture; also we don't really have school teams here in the Netherlands with active competition between schools, so please take that in consideration with my answer.

I would say that society is just wholly unfair. Within an organization, the ones who bring a greater advantage, even if in the long run it's meaningless, will be able to get away with more; for example: a strong sports team might boost the schools reputation.

At the very least, they'll lose this boon the second they graduate (if they don't drop out).

On another note, reading your story filled me with a good deal of rage. Whatever you do, keep your cool. The consequence aren't worth vengeance, though I do not speak out of personal experience.

(Speaking of vengeance, I now have multiple means of vengeance swimming throug my head, all of 'em most definitely illigal in multiple ways but all highly ironic)

Or you can always look him up after securing a career and be all smug in his face.

...I am a terrible person.

I suggest the Ender Method. You don't just have to win *that* fight, you have to win *every* fight that will come after with that initial win.

Cripple the son of a *****. He won't be any use to the school if he can't run. Break his legs, compound fractures if you can, any way you can. Just stay away from his head and torso, though smashing up his face would go a long way to reducing his pride.

Don't care about the consequences. It's all in self-defence. If they ask how preemptively destroying a man is "self-defence," bring up every incident that led up to that moment, and make it clear to everyone that you can and will do it again if somebody screws with you.

Once they fear you, they'll stay away from you.
