Why do other young gamers have to ruin it for me?

Young gamers can't really be generalized, but I certainly see where you're coming from.
My favorite game to mention is actually Halo, Combat Evolved specifically as I've never played 3 online.

A few months ago I was in a team death-match in which a player who's name I can't remember, found it funny to run people down with a Warthog, I have no problems with this, but when I jumped into another warthog and basically drifted over him around a corner, he FILLED the chat window with 'Fuck you' this and , 'Coward *****, that for almost a half hour... and then admitted he was only 14... which made things worse.

Anyone of any age can be a pain, it just seems that the younger gamers are the only ones people target their hate towards (most of the time). Plus I have my best friend Mr. Mute Button, guardian of my sanity.

In a way, I know what you mean. When playing Halo 3 I experienced the animosity you clearly do, except my "crime" was being English. I've no problem with giving as good as I get, but hearing "LOLOLOL UR PRESIDENT IS A RETARD AND UR FAT" for the millionth time made me not want to communicate with people because I knew it would end up in a UK vs USA debate 99% of the time.

Now I wish every game/console had private chat because I am sick of having to join a game with friends and mute everyone through fear of becoming retarded via osmosis.
im sorry for my (fellow?) countrymen. they are simply retarded don't pay attention to them.

Hell no, it's your choice if they dont like it they can mute you, talk what you want as loud as you want. They dislike it because they are gettin beaten by someone younger then them, they need to buck up.
That's an awfully big assumption, I have no problem with young gamers like the OP, it's the little brats that are raised by the television and aging hippy parents or whatever. The ones that allow their little spawn to run around the internet shrieking and talking smack because it's exciting and fun for them.

While we're on it, it's not their choice actually. Technically they're breaking the law in most cases. The OP said he was playing MW2, which is rated M by the ESRB, therefore 17 or 18 years old to play. I don't know where the OP is from (may not be the U.S. ergo ESRB), but I'm sure they have a rating system where he lives and where most of these kids live and technically shouldn't be playing.

To the OP, you seem like a good gamer, so continue, if people talk shit on your voice, just ignore them. I used to run a raiding guild in WoW a few years ago, and had a very young kid in my guild, he happened to be an above excellent warlock. Mature for his age, yet people still talked trash to him until he topped the meters. The moral of the story is, age doesn't matter, yes the prepubescent voice is not easy on the ears by any means, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't tell your team mate theres an enemy sneaking up behind him or whatever.

Honestly, it doesnt seem to change when they get older.
Which is why unless I play online with friends I know, I never use a mic.

Just mute them if they're getting to you that bad...

First, they ruin it for you because YOU let them.
Just don't worry about it and play the game.

And second not all young gamers are like that.
Iv had great conversations with younger players on many games with older men and women SCREAMING Profanitys and Insults left and right.
And I couldn't agree more with this guy.

because they want to have their fun? Because they are out to get you, and only YOU?

Just because I'm young doesn't mean I scream and swear into the mic. Apparently I don't suffer from ADHD or cockyness :) . Still, I hate people that do that.
Just file a complaint if they get too anoying. That should give their parents something to think about.

They are douchebags everywhere. There are douchebags on the playground, there are douchebags on the internet, and there are douchebags on XBL. Douchebaggery knows no bounds: it doesn't discriminate upon the basis of race, sex, religion, and time period. I can understand why you're frustrated, but learn to deal with it. Because they aren't going away anytime, soon.

Most of you probably hate young gamers, there is no reason not to.Whenever I hear a 5 year old cursing everyone out because he died being a noob.I cant help but thinking "It's your fault".I try my best to be respectful even though some adults can be immature,But that won't stop the other children from being retards.
For example I could be winning 24-0 in MW2 and everyone would be amazed at my skill and say stuff like: "wow he's owning us badly." but the second I put on my headphones and speak it starts to sound like: "ugh the f@g retard is gonna get a nuke."
This is why the only time I use my microphone is when I really need it to communicating with my team, and even then there is always the 2 year old yelling over my voice screaming "Stop sniping me you F@g a** B**CH S**T MotherF**Kers!!!".I wish there was some way I could strangle them through my TV.
Stereotypes. :?

Just because you are a young gamer, does not mean you scream into your microphone and cuss, or do other obnoxious things that all young gamers are associated with. Good people will see past that, and realize the universal truth: everyone can be like that, people are just different. I know young gamers who are years more mature then say, people my age who play. I know people my age, 20, who rage and scream intro the microphone when they lose, or play obnoxious music, etc during matches in MW2 and the like. It all really depends you know? You mustn't let them get to you though, as hard as it may be. They're making themselves look like a fool, and it;'s your job to set an example for other people to go off of. If anyone rages over everyone else, in your age group, then the only examples people can base anything off are bad ones. :/
Thank you, I'm now happy to say I'm 13 and on Xbox Live without the fear of getting flamed for being a stereotype.

OT: As stated, stereotype. Just over look them for the cool young gamers on online FPS's (like me ;) )

I'm 18, so I'm not exactly a young gamer anymore. The only times I use my mic (even though I don't really play online anymore), is either to warn somebody about a bunch of enemies coming their way, or to call BS on some insane kill. Getting hit by a throwing knife from across the map when you guy just chucked it deserves a good "That was BS."

Why would the ruin the experience anyways? Just mute them and don't listen to them. I am sort of sick of people blaming it on young gamers, because I find more 20 to 30 year old's, or at least people who sound that old, cussing the entire game or singing annoying songs then I find 8 year olds doing it.

There's a simple solution: Don't use the mic. Kids have annoying voices and I don't really want to hear 'em, so until you go through puberty and get a deeper voice, I don't want to hear you talk. It doesn't matter how good you may be.
I agree with this, as intolerant as it may be kids voices drive me nuts. I think the best solution is this

All hail our saviour the gaming PC!

You don't get nearly as many pre-pubescent kids on PC games.

Take note, people; the above paragraph is chock-full of words of wisdom. Spare your time reading them wisely.

When I played Desert Combat, my most trusted helicopter pilot was a pre-teen boy who could fly circles around anybody. He was respectful and calm. I realize not all of you youngsters are annoying. I for one, give you a chance to prove yourself. Until you ruin it, you have my respect.

Welcome to the wonderful world of online gaming...for every calm, level-headed player theres 15 ten-year-olds screaming about how everyone is this racial slur or that racial slur. Quite an amazing place we live in.

Use the voice changer to make your voice deeper.
Problem solved.
I'm young, but I don't have to because I sound like an adult.
