I don't really understand why people where getting uppity when brink came out claiming it to be a rip off of Team fortress 2, I'm just a little confused on this topic because claim that Brink is just TF2 without the hats and more customisation, I mean there are thousands of games that have class based objectives but i don't get why some people just blatantly avoided Brink because of this. Yeah it was really short and way to easy to finish, but hey, there have been thousands of other games far worse than Brink *cough* Duke Nukem: Forever *cough*.

I'm not a fanboy of Brink trying to defend it, I just want other peoples opinions on this subject, i know i'm late it's better late than never.

EDIT: My first description was a midnight rant without structure, I apologize for calling people Valve Fanboys, I'm dying to get my hands on Half Life 2: Ep 3 too.

1. Cool your jets.
2. Proper English.
3. Stop insulting people with different opinions and calling out fanboys.
4. Please give us a real prompt for an actual, constructive discussion on the topic of Brink and TF2's similarities or differences instead of being so contrary.
5. Mass Effect is off-topic. You're derailing your own thread.

Aren't you a bit late?

Brink hasn't mattered since... well, since about three days after it came out.

The whole X-ripped-off-Y thing is basically a permanent fixture of game discussion. It's really not worth worrying about. Everybody rips off everybody and nobody has a problem with it, besides the overzealous fans of course.

P.S. they shouldn't change the ending to Mass Effect 3, the ending was sad and good for the franchise. just because your issues with the fact the moral choice system didn't matter much for the final game doesn't mean the ending should be changed. barely any other game has a moral choice system and their endings can be worse.
Before you are buried beneath the quotes from ME fans, I'd suggest you edit that out.
They'll correctly inform you that the anger over the ME3 ending has nothin' to do with wanting unicorns and narwhals with a sprinkling of rainbows. The ME3 ending is lazy and rushed ending to a franchise that deserved better.

You have a right to your opinion; just like you have the right to run into a lion's den dressed in meat.

I kinda get the feeling that this is an odd attempt at disguising a ME3 topic.

This would be worth getting worked up about if:

1: Brink actually ripped of TF2 well.

2: Brink wasn't a shit game

Comparing Brink to TF2 is like comparing Big Rigs Over the Road Racing, to Burnout.

Yeah, I hate those people that say Duke Nukem was just Doom with strippers and lols.

So stupid.

Oh, an ME3 totally ripped off Brink and one of the Harry Potter movies. Not sure which one

You sir are right. Brink wasn't a TF2 ripoff at all. It was just a disgusting pile of wasted potential that everyone would just like to forget about.

As much as I dislike TF2 and any of the Valve shooters, I do happen to know TF2 was a quality game, and Brink most certainly was not.

Brink was an utter ripoff of TF2 and was a TERRIBLE ripoff at that. No offense, but deal with it.

Brink, a ripoff?

Nah. It's just-

Wait, what is Brink, exactly? It left no impressions whatsoever in my cerebrum; the only thing the name conjures is hazy images of being told to guard the command post by a poorly-voiced Irish guy always and forever.

In all seriousness, Brink's main issues were godawful netcode and not having proper player conveyance. The netcode issue, in particular, killed it in the womb. A game like that needs to have a strong community from Day 1, and Brink never even tried to give itself that chance. My briefly-owned copy needed Hamachi and Tunngle to get anything done, seeing as I couldn't even connect to the game's servers, try as I might.

No, it isn't a rip off of Team Fortress.
It is just an incredibly shitty game, and a Team Fortress rip off is another insult to pile on the well deserved insults that it had already gotten.

So what if Brink ripped of TF2? If it is better then yay we get to play a better game and if it isn't better like it is then we can learn from it's mistakes and use that knowledge to make better games. TF2 and Brink are not perfect (at least to non-fanboys) but we will only know that when a similar game does it better, by ripping it off and changing a couple of things. That is how we progress here.

No it most certainly isn't a Team Fortress rip off, but it is a very poor attempt at recreating it.
And then they asked $60 for it... holly ball sack I would like to know which manager came up with that gem of an idea, and which fastfood place he was transferred to.

I don't recall anyone saying anything about ripping off TF2 when Brink came out. I do remember describing it as a par kour ish version of TF2. I enjoyed Brink, despite its short comings.

PS I love TF2.
