Brink was a great "idea", it just didn't transfer very well from brain to game format.

As for ripping off TF2, did it have hats?

And your ME3 argument ... I can't agree. It didn't "end" therefore, for me, it was a crap finale.

4. Please give us a real prompt for an actual, constructive discussion on the topic of Brink and TF2's similarities or differences instead of being so contrary.
5. Mass Effect is off-topic. You're derailing your own thread.
I made the first post as a midnight rant, I apologize to people for insulting them and having no structure in my topic, and I didn't realise the internet was a place where grammer is an important instrument.

No it most certainly isn't a Team Fortress rip off, but it is a very poor attempt at recreating it.
And then they asked $60 for it... holly ball sack I would like to know which manager came up with that gem of an idea, and which fastfood place he was transferred to.
I can see that you're American, i payed $90 for it.

Wow. Brink. Talk about a blast from the past. I'm actually a little surprised the game even still has servers up.

I don't know if I'd say it 'ripped off' TF2... but it was very clearly inspired by it. It had the potential to set itself apart as unique... it just failed to live up to that potential, and instead what we gamers were left with was a shell of a game with an unreasonably high price tag. After all the stuff the devs promised us with Brink, I'd probably call it one of the biggest gaming scams in recent years.

I thought Brink had a very good concept and a lot of original ideas I was hoping it would take off and be something great, however it wasn't Call of Duty so it had no hope.

Brink? Brink was weird. How could a company that made a couple of GREAT games like the Enemy Territory games take a similar concept and fuck it up so badly? I mean those games are seriously great, much better than TF.

Anyway Team Fortress was created in '96 and just about any multiplayer game with classes and teams borrows heavily from its pedigree. No one went around saying Battlefield 1942 was a TF rip off.

This is the same community that called every FPS a Doom clone for 6 years. Its just a newly popularized genre which was brought to prominence by one out of the ballpark hit.

I played Brink for a while, and while it was fun, it tried to do too many things, and so it ended up doing none of them well. Its first-person parkour was just not as good as Mirror's Edge, and its first-person shooting wasn't as good as many of the other FPS games out there. What I would love to see in terms of multiplayer parkour type stuff would be some kind of Mirror's Edge-type game of tag. That would be a much better way to incorporate the parkour elements. I did like the visual design of Brink, though, so that's a point in its favor.

Because it tries to do what TF2 does, in worse environments, with worse characterisation, with worse mechanics, and with worse customisation.

in my ever so humble opinion, of course.

Because they haven't played it.
It's more of a CoD rip-off if anything. A bad CoD rip-off with a gimmick and a schizophrenic damage system.
