I think people feel sorry for Nintendo because they aren't doing all that well despite many people claiming that they have the system with the best games on it. People just want Nintendo's success to be more financially realised instead of constantly being in Sony/Microsoft's shadow.
As for Sony though, it was pretty much their fault. They had a pretty poor defence against hackers, and they have always had a pretty poor defence against hackers. Remember that huge PSN outage a few years ago? Why did they not change anything? I couldn't care less about the company here, it was just the employees that got hurt here.
