HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR HUMANS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.

The only thing to hate them is their development thingy going on but the same could be said for Valve.
Also I hate their fanboys with a burning passion.

I don't believe anyone hates them, it's just that some people get a bit pissy that the one-hit wonder defeated Bioware and Valve in March Mayhem.

I am rather indifferent toward them. They have (not even) one game, which I don't play. Do I think that they deserve hate? No. Do I think they should have won march madness? no.

I don't think that. I just think Mojang should have lost >.>

Because nerds, like sports fans, develop an emotional attachment to organizations that exist solely to take their money. Part of this attachment manifests itself as a kind of loyalty, whereby folks act like any of this matters.

Who hates Mojang? Seriously, the only thing you can hear on these boards regarding Mojang is love, praise and adoration for Minecraft. Personally, I just don't care about them. They made one game which I didn't like.
Then you havn't been following the last few March Mayhem matchups. The hate is palpable.

Its because people fear change, and Mojang has brought to the mainstream something that is not a violent power fantasy. And repetition has made people believe that power fantasy's are the only viable route for a serious game to take, and anything that is not a power fantasy must be a casual game. Casual games do have their quality moments, but lately, the most noticeable entry's have been low quality money grabs that do nothing good for the medium. Mojang therefore gets lumped in with casual games, and that's not always a good place to be from the perspective of someone who is serious about games.

I don`t hate them, i simply don`t find their game appealing to me and i couldn't care less that someone got rich, i mean good for them, but that wont make me like their game.

People do not hate Mojang. But considering all the games that came out this past year, is Minecraft really the best? I shouldn't care about March Mayhem, but they don't deserve to win in my opinion.

I hate them! Seriously, it was a great game that's addicting and simple - but it's getting wayyyyyyy to much appreciation - it's JUST lego except there's a never ending amount and it's even harder to find
How can you not like an infinite amount of Lego. If you don't like finding it, look for a multiplayer server that has Bukkit or MCAdmin on it, then you can spawn as much as you want
I concur entirely.

People obviously hate Mojang, otherwise it wouldn't have dominated it's competition.

Or wait. Do you know the difference between hate and like?

The thing with the most fans who even know about this wins the competition.
I think notch is the only guy getting some serious votes because he's the only guy who told their fans about it!

People who like valve or namco had to find it themselves.
Notch said "hey guys, like my crap? Vote for me!" and people were like "Well okay I guess I like minecraft enough to vote against X!".
Seriously.... if TF2 had put it up on their blog, maybe, maybe it would've been closer, but so far some indie devs has mentioned it and no one else.

Ahh.. they're just getting all sore and... butthurt, sure why not.

It will blow over. Though I don't know why it got as bad as it did.

Actually, this kind of proves the stereotype about us doesn't it? Naw, we're not a bunch of immature man-children, but if a pointless contest meant for fun doesn't go exactly as we want it, we're going to cry and complain about the competition being evil cheaters. Pathetic, I expect so much more from us.

Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn - My all time favourite game, so i vote for BioWare
thus said i agree that Bioware is overbloven, cashhording ***, but it's still miles better then Mojang.

I judge from the list of games I have seen, and mine craft does not impress me. I can take a shovel go outside and dig all day long, I can take some nails a hammer and axe and build me a hut in the forest, its at least real, but doing it in the Virtual world just makes no sense to me.

Voting for one developer because of one good game is degrading. BioWare had a lot of bashing for DA2 because a lot of people had expectations. I am waiting to see how good Mojang will do next year.(evil grin)

P.s. before you start bashing me, I do not hate Mincraft, it just got boring to me few hours in and no patch has had any effect on that, and I am happy for you that you enjoy it that much.

Who hates Mojang? I can understand being a bit frustrated that they're somehow second in the March Madness thing. I mean admirable as their one developer hit story is, does that really supersede years worth of solid releases and development from other developers? Not really in my mind.

But hate? No, I don't hate Mojang at all. Why would I?
This. I don't hate Mojang, but when it comes to voting of the best game developer in the market, it feels a bit wierd to favor a newcomer who's made ONE good game, over an oldtimer who's made TONS of good games (like Valve, BioWare, Nintendo, etc.).

The reason people are hating on Mojang, is just that many of them are afraid of change in the industry. Not used to simplicity only to over complicated stories about saving the galaxy or stopping a revolution. In my opinon, Mojang has done the greatest amount of work in the past year compared to bigger companies like Valve or Bioware.

So, I'm going to go play some Dragon Age 2 while listening to my Minecraft Ventrillo. Peace

Why is it every time someone reads a negative comment about a company people ask why does everybody hate them?

It's simple. Everyones different.

I don't think anyone "hates" Mojang, they just disapprove at the fact that they're everyone's favourite developer in the whole world even though they only created one successful indie game.

It's the same reason why my friends and I often get annoyed at our other friend because he literally misinterprets everything that shows like ZeroPunctuation and Extra Credits say to try and better the gaming industry. He takes everything as if "Games are going to fail as a medium if we play them for fun. Unless every game is heavily story-based like Heavy Rain, the industry is going to fail".

I think people misinterpret the success of Mojang as some sort of massive "F&$% YOU" to other media instead of what amounts to an interesting success story. Minecraft's creator Notch even admitted that Minecraft wasn't an original idea.

Mojang's success is a great story, but I just think a lot of people are almost getting too pretentious over it all.
