I don't think I've ever really heard hate for them, but I'm not really in the loop on a lot of PC gaming, so I don't know. I have Fable: Lost Chapters and Morrowind for PC; the multi-disk setup never bothered me.

Yup, but I haven't really noticed that many multi-disc games of late.

I think he means console games where you must switch discs at some point because there is too much game content to fit on one disc. (E.G. Legend of Dragoon 4 DISCS)

Me either. I don't mind at all, as long as they do it at a point where it is appropriate.

Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey each are 3-4 disks long. Not that's a bad thing. It means that they couldn't fix everything into one. And I can believe it. Those games are loooooooooooong

Surpsingly, I think we've got a BINGO here.

With PCs, it's not uncommon to have to install multiple disks for one game. With consoles, you have the luxury to not have to do all that time wasting. The burden to sqeeze the content on one disk should be on the developer, not the consumer to have to carry the burden of being shorthanded by lazy/cheap developers.

Not that I care to much about them, I havn't had any 2 disk games for a while but it would be slightly annoying if I ever got one.

I don't mind them too much but they are deffinetley immersion breakers and multiple disks either means:
A: More disks/cases to lose
B: Too many disks crammed into one small case (frequently causes damage to disks)
C: A larger case which, while it may not be as annoying, is not done frequently because of how cost-ineffective it is.
D: Disks included in sleeves instead of cases, making them harder to protect, more easily damaged in travel, and easier to lose.

Other than that I don't mind them and don't consider them to much of a problem, at least game-play wise.

You're playing an RPG, you're so completely immersed and the story is really grabbing you. You can't wait to find out what's going to happen next when... O NOES The game tells you you need to change discs to go on... Like meatloaf said, it's the most immersion-shattering thing that can possibly happen.

Are there even any multi disk console games out there? I sure haven't seen any.

Although the same can be said for theater and intermissions, I see your point. It does make you want to keep playing, though, and more time for you to wonder about what will happen next.

I've never seen anything wrong with them mostly because they onlt show up in the occasional RPG on consoles.

Final Fantasy VII got kinda annoying, only because they picked some rather bad times to change out.

The only game I have ever complained about extra discs is with Lost Odyssey. Why they would package it with a 3 stack then throw in the extra disc in a paper wrapper. It is just plain lazy.

For a recent example, Lost Odessey had like 4 or 5 disks if I'm right.

I once accidentally bought the CD version of Dawn of War instead of the DVD. I felt like some sort of degenerated subterranean cave being who has to hold a vigil watch over the installation progress bar instead of enjoying a sammich like a civilized person.

the only multi disc game i didnt like because it was multi disc, was Shenmue on the dreamcast, the game felt to short to need it, but then again it's graphics, writing, and qte cutscenes prolly contributed to how much data was in the game as a whole.... nvm mind, i like it anyway, enough to play it multiple times until my dreamcast broke
