I hate WoW. I hate how it indirectly ruined several of my favorite multiplayer games with its endless required grind and viral popularity. I hate how it diverted many of my friends away; trapping them in an endless loop of dailies during the week and raids on the weekend with no end in sight. I hate how every MMO now emulates it in a vain attempt to beat it.
And yes, you can think of me as petty, but screw you if you even think about preaching to me about this; I saw the results, and they speak louder than any pro-WoW argument you can bang out on your keyboard.
Simply put, I really do not like World of Warcraft. At all.
Despite all of this, I've never found a reason to hate the people playing WoW, with a few exceptionally annoying discussions about the game (endless bitching about patches and balance, in situations I couldn't walk away from).
Their community isn't even on a top 10 list of "Awful Online Gaming Communities" for me, which is saying a lot. My friends' guild is even pretty cool to hang around with.
But that isn't enough to convince me to play; not while other, better multiplayer games exist (this is where someone quotes sales figures to me to "prove" how WoW is the best online game ever. Don't bother).
I would rather have some fucking GAMEPLAY in my cooperative game than a lot of nothing.
I apologize for the hostile response, but I've really had it out with certain parties elsewhere on the internet over this subject, and I somehow doubt it represents the WoW community as a whole.
