The Wii seems more like a gimmick console than a gaming console.

Putting aside, of course, the downloadable old school games. Contra III FTW!

Fanboyism... simple.

I'm a 360 fanboy, but the wii is pretty fun, especially with friends.

The only console I play on is the 360, because it has Gears 2. And if there was a PC version, I'd just play that and not have a console at all.

The Wii lacks that sole saving point of the 360 (Gears 2 exclusivity) and thus is worthless compared to PC.

Nobody? Really? I hate the Wii. Look for my post above. The link sums it all up nicely.

If I said I hate the Wii, I'd be lying. Just look at my avatar. However, a lot of games that I look forward to are never released on the Wii, which soured my enjoyment of it.

Personally, I hate the Wii because it has so much shovelware, no innovation beyond motion controls that would work a hundred times better on a controller, and games like Wii Play. Other than that, I'm willing to like the Wii if it seriously cleans up its act.

I personally don't see what there is to hate. It's a console with a different type of control. So what if the hardware's out of date, doesn't backwards compatability boil down to the same thing? (New console-Old game (sort of)= Old console-New game) Personally, I can't use one because I have no aim, human traffic in my household is a major health hazard, and moving your whole body while playing a game is usually laughed at, but with the Wii, you sort of have to.

Hardcore fans probably feel betrayed by the change of audience targeting. Personally, I believe that the Wii is just a money maker to get Nintendo back on it's feet after losing to the other consoles of the previous generations. Soon enough, they'll have enough money to invest in a super console, and bring all other gaming companies to their knees. And then SEGA will come to an uprising with hot titles, like the first good 3D Sonic game, if you'll believe that. It'll probably be called: 3D Sonic: For Real This Time.

I'm not sure if I answered on this thread already (it looks so damn familiar...) but I believe that the supposed 'hardcore' gamer is under the misconception that Nintendo is evil and/or casual only. People have to realize this about shovelware: it always populates the most popular console. Take the PS2 for instance. Does it have shovelware? Up the wazzu! Crappy developers make crappy games for the most successful consoles for hope that by shear chance a percentage of that marketshare will pick it up. Does this affect the PS2 as a console? Absolutely not. In fact, it is generally heralded as the greatest system of all time (not with me, though: N64 and proud).

Plus there are the people who say "Mario and Zelda are shit! I want to see something else!" To these folks, I say stfu. The games continue to sell and play very well, so I doubt we're going to see the end of them very soon. Plus, there are some very solid efforts from third parties. For example, Zack and Wiki (LOVE THAT GAME), NMH, Boom Blox, De Blob, (arguably) The Conduit, and the new Tiger Woods game. Plus some very cool ones on the horizon, including the Grinder, Dead Space Extraction, and Red Steel 2.

Another point that the supposed hardcore try to make is that Nintendo is a money-grubbing evil force bent upon forcing us to spend our valuable dollars. I speak specifically about the add-ons. The one many people are pissed about it the Wii Motion plus. "It sould have been there in the beginning!" Well, if you bothered to read the recent thread on the subject, you would realize that there was no way to efficiently utilize gyroscopic technology until this point. Money and mass made that an impossibility. Another, more recent add-on announcement: the Vitality Sensor. Alright, at first I was a bit miffed at this announcement as well. However, I was also miffed at the initial showing of the Wii Remote. It just goes to show: give it time. Let the developers wow you. Plus, Goichi Suda is already brainstorming a possible game revolving around the perihperal. I bet it's going to be really bloody and awesome.

In conclusion, it is misconception that paints Nintendo as the evil entity people see it as today. Where does this misconception come from? In a word: Yahtzee. His popularity and cynicism cause people to follow his thoughts blindly, which causes them to flame a really interesting console which has the potential to bring us some of the most immersive experiences gaming has ever seen.

Alot of people, including myself, hate the wii because it marks almost an abandonment of a chunk of its audience. Nintendo has/had a lot of serious gamers that were loyal to them, even if the Gamecube had a smaller game selection than the ps2/xbox, those people were still there.

Come the wii, Nintendo has basically said "It's been a fun ride, but we have other people to pay us now, there's the door," to those people.

Allow me to convey this via web comic http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=269

I have a Wii and the only game that I would actually continue to play is SSBB. And that's only at some sort of social occasion, or a tournament. i couldent find one other game that has actually wanted me to play more.

I hate anything associated with Nintendo. They're pricks who think they can do whatever they want because they have a huge base of fanboys who will cater to their every whim. All they do is recycle the same games over and over again, flooding the market with so much shit games that third-party games never really get a chance to shine. They can do what they want without risking anything, because no matter what they do, someone will always buy their products. Just take the Wii MotionPlus for example. They finally fix all the problems with the motion sensor, and they make you pay for it.

As for the Wii itself, it wasn't a good console for core and serious gamers, and the motion controls had several problems (which I've already gone over angrily).

I dislike the Wii, even though there is business and blah blah blah the 360 (and even PS3) manage to appeal to both Hardcore gamers and casual gamers, probably impart to their controls not being gimmicky. I love my DS though, so I don't hate Nintendo, just think some of the things they did with the Wii are a little weird.

I mean its a terrible system, so thus I don't like it. I seriously can't think of anything good to say about it, especially compared to the other consoles.

I don't hate the Wii. It hits it's target audience square on target, this being, in no particular order, old people, people with short attention spans, and Nintendo fanboys. Why will I never buy a Wii? Well, let's start with the fact that I'm a PC gamer, then move on to the fact that Wii games look horrid. How about the fact that Nintendo is still catching up with the times and starting to realize that a significant portion of gamers are between the ages of 19 and 34 now. Unfortunately, most of the "adult" titles that come out are either terrible ports (Scarface, the CoD du jour), or treat adult themes in such a juvenile manner that it's impossible to take them seriously (No More Heroes, Mad World). Finally, let's talk the Wiimote. It's gimmicky, prone to malfunction, requires recalibration every time you lean a few inches to fart, and isn't nearly as much fun as we're led to believe. The controller is a neat idea, but so tragically flawed in it's execution, it's no wonder it's shoehorned into every game on the system whether it needs it or not. If they gave people the option to use a standard controller for the games, the Wiimote would quickly be forgotten and the system would have to stand on it's own, sans gimmicks. So yeah, like I said, I don't hate it, I just don't enjoy it, and wouldn't buy it.

Also, why I personally have a problem with casual gamers is thus. I have been a gamer all my life, I was playing commodore 64 games in diapers. I picked up pen and paper role playing in high school, and all I ever heard was how nerdy it was, and no one who could get a date played games. Now all of the sudden, the guy who picked on me in high school for being a nerd is playing games and has the gall to call himself a "gamer". It's not a good reason, perhaps, but I think that if you think about it for a moment, you'll at least understand where I'm coming from here.
