I was just on a forum where a guy was complaining about how oblivion crashed after he had been playing a character for 459 hours. i have played this game A LOT over 2 months of hours. (i know im a loser) The game has flaws but to complain Bethesda doesn't particularly care his character crashed after 459 hours 4 YEARS after the games release seems a little needy! I feel a similar way about Fable Fans they always say FableX was better but... in FableY ... it didn't have... etc. So the question is why do people hate their favorite games and what games do you love but constantly complain about?

I ***** about the Mako a lot, but that's not to say I don't love Mass Effect. And the save system in GTA IV...

People complain about thier favorite games because they know they can be even better with a few things fixed.

As for me, well, we all know which series I like to complain about:

Because nothing is perfect and the only game that would fully satisfy a gamer is one developed by himself, with an unlimited budget.

COD games. Fuck I hate the community, it attracts such a wide range of people, just about everyone plays it, i.e a ton of 5 year olds and the only people that actually talk on the game are people constantly arguing about how much better they are compared to each other(and trolls). The quite obvious unbalancing of everything like some guns are just completely over powered and therefore over used. Perks, killstreaks, enjoyable, but overpowered.

Yet i still bought Black Ops, contributed 10 dollars to my brother buying MW2 and playing COD 4 at mates houses(never got up to the other COD's).

Not sure if the point of this thread was to actually rant and explain what game you complain about, but meh, it's so true.

I'm a PC player, btw.

EDIT: I've played 103 hrs of Black Ops >.>

I love the final fantasy series ever since I first played VII years ago on my playstation.

However, I will happily complain for ages about how terrible XIII was, it's honestly one of the worst games I've played and even my love of FF games didn't help make it any better.

Every MMO iv played comes to mind.

iv played Eve Online on and off over the past several years. usually my interest fizzles, but this time i was doing things right and had some momentum. the only thing i didnt do right was have a proper backup plan for getting killed. to be fair, its hard not to spend money you have. i flew a battleship into low sec space to buy some T2 missile bays i just gained the skill to use. even with them, i was just barely able to solo the toughest lvl 4 missions. as soon as i jumped into the system, i got warp scrambled and slowly killed. i couldnt to crap for damage to either of them. they wernt pirates, just dicks. they didnt make any demands. they blew up my ship then pod killed me. all i had was my insurance money, which didnt even cover the cost of the ship, let alone the loadout which cost several times more. it was a pve loadout, so i spared no expense. i have no idea how much i had sunk into my implants and boosters, but it was a lot. i dont know why i bothered to spend isk on insurance and a clone upgrade, i knew if i got pk'd it was game over.

WoW was just cursed by its own success. too many children and dicks play that game. if you're going to play a game's endgame content, that means you have to find a tolerable group of people who are skilled and will play with you regularly. i got into a very high end guild as a friend, since my rl friend was in the guild. i raided with them, and they were insufferable pricks. i take pride in everything i do, but the only way anyone could every be so cocky about being good at WoW, is if its the first thing they have ever been good at.

DDO had all the pieces for a great MMO experience, except for the devs, forum mods, and companies running the game. The gameplay was great, i loved the combat, and i love 3.5 dnd. even the top players on my server, Argonnesen, where intelligent (mostly) and had a great sense of humor. they where all real stand up people too. The love triangle (Hasbro, WoTC, Atari) have been a bane to dnd for a long time, and Turbine is a penniless pos company which combines Hasbro's disdain for its customers with Atari's epic lack of support.

Is this a crash where you would just reboot or a corrupt save of some sort?

What was wrong with the save system in GTA IV?

I can't even fathom putting that much time into a single character in a single game.I put about 80-90 hrs into oblivion and was done with it after that

Having to return to your safehouse everytime you want to save plus the lack of mission checkpoints meaning if you failed a mission near the end of it you had to restart from the beginning including driving to the mission again.

It autosaved after everything you did of remote consequence. Like after a date, for instance.

Do you have autosave turned off?

The lack of mid-mission checkpoints does suck, though.

The Silent Hill series. I love it so much, but I constantly ***** about the combat and how it's getting worse after The Room but I still fork out the cash for the sequels.

Same for Rule of Rose, loved it a lot, but constantly picking out flaws in the gameplay and combat.

People like to complain about their favourite things because it's easier to find flaws in something if you look hard enough. If you love something you're going to be looking at it pretty damn hard so... you're going to find flaws. It just happens. The true test is if you can look past the flaws, or live with them and still love it. Sometimes the straw just breaks the camel's back.

I personally, love Forza Motorsport 3, but also hate it at the same time. I should just kick it to the curb, but I just love it too much to. Though GT5 actually releasing has quenched my racing thirst. Now I'm finding flaws in that too. It's inexcapable!

I hate hate hate lots of stuff about Morrowind and Fallout(Miniguns with 100% accuracy? I think not.) (Not to mention MMO's), but still, I can't stop playing them because they are great games!

That is the first Final Fantasy game i've played, not including the MMO, I'm 24 hours in and i'm still kind of like wtf, but damn its pretty. I don't think it's that bad though.

As for me the only games i've ever complained about, apart from terrible games, are ones where i get involved in the online community or just the online portion. COD, I enjoy complaining about some of the mechanics but all and all I enjoy the games. Demigod was another one because the multi and community was just horrible for a large part.

It's an okay game, but it's just so linear - they cut it pretty much everything that I love about FF games. I used to enjoy being challenged by the enemies and having to use tactics to be able to win, on the new one you just grind and spam auto-battle and that gets you through 99% of the battles (I've yet to try some of the harder hunts though, but I imagine it'll probably be the same)

But well, if that's the only FF game you've played I suggest trying X or XII - they're both much better examples of what FF should be like. I mean I still liked XIII, they just took out too many of the things I personally love about FF games and just made it far too easy.

I rarely get involved in the online community for most games, but when I do it's always been positive experiences (a random kind stranger gifted me 100k gold on fable 3 after I'd only been playing for a few hours - that really made my day) and so I wouldn't complain about them.

Because, and I quote (again), "fans are clinging complaining dipshits who will never ever be grateful for any concessions you make. The moment you shut out their shrill tremulous voices the happier you'll be for it."

You got them mixed up.

Old FF games could be grinded through. Hell, you can win some of the "supposed to lose" fights if you grind enough. FF13 caps you out based on story progress.

FF13 may use auto-battle, but it's far from out of your control. You have to watch about a dozen different things at once on the HUD (chain gauges is always a fallin'!), switch paradigms every few seconds as needed.

It's just a different type of control. Besides, you can still give commands as wished. Auto-battle loved using Thundaga, even though 3 Thunders would total more damage against a single target with the same number of ATB bars.

I hate minecraft. It's ruined me.

I'm now working at an industrial scale. Building a bridge to get to my new mining site, I did a quick tally of how much material I was using (I have a retexture going, so the choices may seem odd for bridge building):

6000 M³ Cobblestone (bridge supports)
3000 M³ Hellsone (roadway)
2000 M³ Glass (side ballistrade)
400 torches

This is using minimap mod coordinates, and rounded DOWN from the actual length, which I wasn't bothering to count.

And that's why I hate minecraft.
