Why do people still think video games are bad?

Those last two parts surprised me.

It's only true if you count "farmville" as a real game, and girls who play only farmville as "real" gamers.

I do agree that TOO MUCH videogames do have social and health downfalls, but not so much as to call them bad.

But for most, it's mostly becasue it's the newest form of media at the moment and is not widely accepted the way TV or movies are. Also because alot of people don't understand them to the fullest and alot of the most vocal people against videogames don't even play them and never will... hence never giving them the chance. And, most of those people are old biased fucks that are set in their ways and have no tolerance for anything new or something they don't grasp on a mental level.

There's lots of reasons actully, whether its personal, political, or religious agenda driving it... even ignorance.

Because the News is always going to say "Video games are bad and will butt fuck your cat". They always have seen it as bad, because the people who are encouraged by video games to do something stupid are usually on the news. Now thats on occasion. If they showed regular people playing video games this would be the head line "Normal man relaxes after a long day at work by playing some Halo" <-- not as awesome is it. I didn't bother to read the article because I knew it would be the same old shit. Video games are bad we have proof of some kid who doesn't have good parents going physico after playing GTA.Some thing stupid along that line.

Okay, skimmed through and it was a debate. Still my point still stands.

People like to blame things with other things, we use to blame all the violence in the world on ROCK-N-ROLL, obviously it failed becuase its still around and there wasn't much to connect it to. Today we have video games to blame, Instead of bad parenting, or what happens in there social life.

I think people that say that young children are being turned into criminals by playing GTA may as well be saying s kids of the same age is being turned into a criminals by watching sin city. in either case the content is inappropriate for them they should be sold it but people aren't saying that it should be illegal for juniors to buy 18 movies.
