why do people think condemned/FEAR is so scary?

I was playing the demos today and didn't twitch once. Do i have balls of steel adamantium, or does everyone else have a different kind of scare factor than me?

The demo's don't show that much. Condemned get's really interesting toward the end and Fear get's a lot scarier as more visions of Alma appear.

The demos don't give credit to the whole game (although I didn't play the retail version of (F.E.A.R. because I thought it was boring).
I got scared a bit mostly because I easily get paranoid.

Condemned gives you the impression that some crazy nut is charging at you, and you have nothing to defend yourself with.

Play the game and you'll quickly understand.

I didn't find FEAR scary either, but then again I played it in a way that I was running the whole time and not really taking in the atmosphere...

Condemed works if you imagine yourself in that scenerio (eg, the bear chase0. FEAR is more psychological. If you played the ending, you know what I am talking about.

play fatal frame II or III to test your adamantium goodies, in case you havent played them. In the dark and lonely of course.

FEAR left me bored due to OD-ing on Japanese ghost story for the last few years. I'm pretty much done with the whole concept.
Condemned 2's demo put the wind up me mind. Couldn't get through the demo, but Ihave recently bought the full game. Yet to man up and play it, mind.

I thought the shopping center level in Condemned was pretty scary, like when I turned around and suddenly all these mannequins just appeared around me. I didn't really think F.E.A.R. was scary. I thought it was fun.

Let's not confuse Condemned and Condemned 2, by the way. The first was terrifying, the second...not so much.

Anyway, in answer to your question, demos can't fully immerse you in the atmosphere the way the full game can.

God, I hate to say this. I really do.

I hated the Blair Witch Project. I found it to be really boring.
The Poughkeepsie Tapes look pretty cool, though. I may end up watching that(Those? Never something I heard of until now) this weekend.

EDIT: Just watched the Poughkeepsie Tapes. Holy balls. Awesome movie.

I find it funny to slide kick someone like 20 feet off a roof,
and im always looking in the wrong direction when the lights turn off or something

Condemned is more tense, lonely, and jumpy horror. With the freaks running around and you being the only normal person out there no allies what so ever. So that is what makes it scarry.
