Why do some guys get "spooked" when girls talk to them about video games?

I work in a book store, it's a pretty simple and slow job. Just cash people out while saying hello and goodbye. Make some small chatter while ringing up some items. Once in a while some guys will come in and get a halo, starcraft, diablo, gears of war, world of warcraft or some sort of gaming comic, book, or gaming guide. So since I myself am a gamer, I try to make my day seem less boring at work by starting up some game chatter. Some will talk back others will nod their head and then grab the bag and run.

I just don't seem why they get "spooked" or what it seems like it. They give like an odd glare when you bring up a video game too sometimes.

Oh jesus, Don't do that too me, Ill talk all day ¬¬

Its mainly due too them being outside. I know if i get talking too a cashier you start feeling awkward quite quickly as you could be holding up a queue (I'm british ~ born too queue).

Thats a general all around rule tho, not just gaming conversation.

EDIT: The thing is, Most guy gamers have a weak spot. Girls that know their stuff when it comes too video games is 9/10 one of the weak spots. You dont want to flirt, Or come across as creepy, But unfortunately trying to avoid those outcomes ends up forcing you into them.

Im actually quite socially acute/Adept but im yet when it comes too girl gamers theres far too much panic in there. Lols

XD I would love that but I could understand worrying about holding up a line, but some time they dart off when there isn't one. Today I had a fun conversation about halo ODST. It just makes work a little more fun.

I would not take it too personally. Some people are just not into small talk especially when checking out in a book store. I know I am not. I just want to make a bee line back to my car, drive to my happy place, and read until my eyes bleed.

gaming i stereotypically a male hobby so meeting a woman that playes games is strange to them.

I'd rather say it's a stereotypical nerd hobby (exept those jocks who only play Halo 3 and Madden...Both games suck).And it's plays not playes.And that "i" should be "is".Man even the greasy turkish stereotypical foreigner knows english better than any silly american or silly english person thing...Shut Up.

firstly, although the mistakes you pointed out indeed wrong, they are typos, not because i'm thick. i've had to correct about 6 typos already on this post, i'm cursed with them. secondly, just for the record i'm a 'silly english person'. thirdly, all those countries need capitols; Turkish, American and English. and, finally, nerds aren't the only people that play games so neeeeer

One I did say that other people play games.Two I'm kind of still lerning English.Third I've never heard of that "Capitol Rule".Fourth you're probably one of those forum stalkers who don't have friends and yes I know you're a silly english person thing now go back to your cage.And nerds like me are the only ones I've seen being called gamers sometimes the "cool guys" would shout at my in the university "Fuck off and go play your World of Warcraft you nerd" and that's the reason I cry myself to sleep.
