I care immensely about my education. The only branch of study that I want abolutely nothing to do with under any circumstances are English/Literature classes. I hate them. I hate them so much. Luckily, I'm done with them. I'm so glad that I took all of my college literature classes while I was still in high school.

Now that I'm about to go to college, it's pretty much science (and a sprinkle of history) from here. Yay! Maybe when my academic schedule becomes a bit more loose in a year or so, I can enroll in a quantum physics course.

Alright, I am going to be going to grad school to get my masters in aerospace engineering and I am very interested in staying for a PhD. I am doing this because I want to and not just for the ridiculous salary that will follow. So you could say I care about my education, but really im just putting the real world on hold for as long as possible.

Once the education system of a society slips it will just keep declining with every generation becoming dumber and dumber. Common sense is the first to go with most people not caring about increasing their knowledge in general but focusing on one specific thing. While this makes them quite capable in one specific field of expertise, it makes them a dumbfuck in every other respect.

In short, ignorance is bliss.

I see morons. Walking around like regular people. They don't see each other. They only see what they want to see. They don't know they're morons. I see them all the time. They're everywhere!

No one said they did not care

fail thread is fail

I mean do you people just try to make a thread that sounds smart or something?
If people would make these threads to sounds smart then I'm sure they would either double-check their spelling or run a spellchecker. I'm not nitpicking here but the irony of having this much grammatical and spelling errors in a post about education is fantastic.

I actually do care a lot about my education, as I do want to earn a decent amount of money and get a good quality of life, but I didn't use to, when I started off at school.

I think it's just because going to school means doing work, and almost no kid likes that at first if they ever like it.

Either that, or they have realised that school is just the very system that brings you into this work-sleep routine that you'll be doing for the rest of your life. They realise that the government just wants to enforce this routine on you, and offer the prosperity of money for the fools willing to follow it. They also notice that this education:money proportion is the very thing that fuels a corrupt and capitalistic society that crushes the poor desperate for a living, yet favours the rich in this world.

Whether or not 7 year olds are that philosophical about the whole thing though I'm not sure.

So in the end

we all have to know and accept that High School is a F*cking joke since if i were to recall i only learned something useful in maths and thats only because i enjoyed maths every other subject i can easily remember how much useless junk they force fed you.

thats why Univeristies take the best because they are damn useful !

I didn't really care that much about my education, I spent most of my time at uni with a girlfriend doing ya know, drinking or at band practice came out with a mediocre level computer science - software engineering degree.

Yet some how I've still managed to land myself a software engineering job... so either I'm lucky, or your education is over rated when compared to demonstrated skills and experience.

What I will say after coming home to a lot of people who had not gone to uni, it gives you a lot of life experience and a gentle idea of what being independant entails.

However, my thoughts on younger, lower level education are the antithesis to my prior remarks. Largely because children these days will understand what LOL means better than words like antithesis. I feel that a decent education in language and language structure as well as mathematics has been lost in todays younger generations. This can plainly be seen on this forum when contrasting the threads from adults and children. By no means is anyone perfect (myself included), though there is certainly a difference.

From what I've seen, people don't care about actually learning the stuff in their classes, because very, very frequently, there is little to no application of that information into everyday life or their future jobs.

I care about my education as far as getting a degree. I don't care in the slightest what information I retain in the process of getting that far, because as I said, the vast majority of it I will never use, and the stuff I will use, I'll need a refresher on anyway.
I think it's very sad that you think only knowledge which translates into a paycheck is worth knowing.

Education = Money.
No, not always.

Teachers go to college, for at least six years, and make less money then my mother, who works at the post office.
Eh, you're overstating your case a bit there, champ. While teacher salaries vary greatly from state to state, your average teacher earns about $35 and hour, versus $20 an hour for the postal service.
Where did you get $35 an hour?
Every teacher I know has to arrive an hour before classes, leaves over an hour after classes end, then spend another 2-4 hours a night working on prep at home. Did you add that into your $35 an hour?

Where I live, teachers make less than mill workers.
Teacher base take home=2175 a month
Mill worker base take home=2274 a month (that's at the lowest starting wage of 18.95 an hour.)

School administrator salary=90k a year (for the superintendent)
Mill middle manager=110k a year
Mill CEO=175k a year.
