I don't whine, and figuring me out isn't a major accomplishment. Unfortunately, you've deliberately avoided understanding me, so you haven't met even the low bar, but if you'd like to figure me out someday, you're welcome to at any time. Because the moral majority got invented so some white private college owners could keep their schools segregated. Prior to that isolating either group by religion to analyze their voting patterns would be pointless. On most issues they voted identically to their race as a whole, with the exception of Catholics and Mormons (Catholics liking the New Deal but opposing abortion and the like, Mormons being hilariously racist).

In other words, like most of our partisan division problems in the US, it goes back to the Civil Rights Movement and the on-going backlash against it.
