Why Do YOU Buy Used?

If I buy used (which is pretty regular), it's because it's cheaper. Why pay £40-£60 when I can pay between £3 and £15? Just smart buying. If games were actually worth their exorbitant price tags, then maybe. Even when I buy new, I tend to go halves with my dad to lessen the cost.

So yeah, money.

I simply cannot afford to buy at full price. So I wait till the price drops to a level I can afford, whether its simply had the price cut, or its ended up in the used column.

I don't buy used, I take things other people don't need anymore. They can have it back when they want it again.

I don't. For the same reason I don't pirate them: Because nothing in this world is free, and for you to play it someone had to make it. If the game isn't worth buying new, it's probably not worth bothering with.

"What if I don't have the money?"

Then you can wait. Like I do very often.

It's games like Fallout 3 that ain't NEAR worth the 60USD they're asking for.
Definitely disagree with this - 150+ hours is definitely worth that. But hey. Subjective.
You may get 150+ hours out of it but at least half of that is walking slowly because of encumbrance or load screens.
:p

For me F03 just wasn't all that 'fun'.
Sure, there was lots to do, but it was pretty much the same damn thing.

If I wanted to do nothing but generic fetch quests I'd play MMOs.

Cheaper. It's that simple.

I can buy a brand new high-profile PS3 game for $110. (Australia. Shut up.)

Or I can wait a few months and buy it for $70. (Seriously, stop laughing.)

Or I can wait a few months, trade in some old games and get it for $30.

I make no apologies for saving money. Fuck the developers and publishers. If they want my day-one new game money they can either lower prices or make games that are really worth those ridiculous prices.
I just bought two new game imports for $90 together. Max Payne 3 and Assassins Creed 3.

Only suckers buy retail.

For the previous gen games, it is because they are no longer available new in stores, so I need to find them either online or at a used game shop. For some of the more recent titles, I tend to wait until the priced drops a little and then buy it new. If there's a promotion going on in which I can get multiple used games at a discounted price, I will go for that instead.
