The only thing that annoys me about people disliking a thing that I enjoy is the specific way that people tend to express that dislike. Basically, if someone were to say something along the lines of "[X piece of media] does not fill the requirements I have for that particular genre/aesthetic/etc, therefore I simply cannot get into it," that would be fine and I wouldn't care. The problem is, people tend to go for the more hyperbolic and inflammatory "[X piece of media] does not fill the requirements I have for that particular genre/aesthetic/etc, therefore it is shit." That is what pisses me off.
For example: A lot of people don't like the Dead Space series, which I love, because they're not all that scary despite their horror aesthetic. That's fine. Some people just can't seem to get into a game with that aesthetic if it can't also instill a sense of dread and hopelessness. Just don't say that the games are "shit" just because they don't fill that particular item on your checklist, because that can only come across as insulting to the people who do like them.
As for people liking games that I hate, I don't care at all. Sometimes it might make me kind of sad if a particular genre gets so popular that it seems to over-saturate the market at the expense of things that I do like, but even then I won't hold it against other people for simply enjoying what they enjoy. I'll just move on and wait for the fad to pass.
