I don't. I just let people have their own opinions, and don't try to force my own down their throats. The only time I ever do that is when they are either factually incorrect or their opinion is based off of logic that is batshit insane. Something like "I don't like hamburgers because cows have spots." Yes, somebody tried to tell me that.

I often find it hard to care about anything given the lack of certainty about the existence of anything, and the futility of our short pointless individual lives.

I believe in stuff because my mind works that way. I argue with people over stuff because they piss me off. That's pretty much it.

I enjoy a good discussion about personal beliefs and values. I like people to tell me why they think the way they do, and I reciprocate by telling them why I think the way I do.

I however do not like conversations where somebody just rants talk points without actually putting any thought or effort into trying to make another understand.

Why I care about:
Religion: Because it is a topic that a lot of people care about. Personally, you can believe whatever the hell you want to believe, I really don't give a damn. But the instant you start telling me what to believe (or what not to believe) in, and assert what is right and what is wrong, then I will stand up for what I think is right and wrong, and do everything in my power, to destroy your opinion. But if you just keep it to yourself, then you can continue to live in your fantasy =)
Ideals: They are what make me me, and when they are called into question, I will say why my ideals are right. If I don't stand up for my ideals, then why do I exist?
Favorite Ice cream: It tastes good, and my taste buds are kind of important to me.
Anything: Because caring about something shows that you are a rational human being with rational concerns about things. The opposite about caring for anything, would be caring for nothing, or caring for everything. Caring for nothing leads to death, so that is obviously stupid. Caring for everything is too much work. Of course I have an opinion about everything ever, I am a guy who thinks way too much about everything. But I don't care about most things because they don't affect me, or are beneath my notice.

I hope that satisfies your question.
I am willing to admit when I am wrong, but when someone says that I am wrong without support, somebody gonna get a hurt real bad...

Very simple, it's not necessary to convince people of your ideals/religion, you livelife the way you want to, tell others about it if you want, and let them decide to agree or, at some point in time everyone will see who was right and who was wrong. So I don't care(much).

Because I can care, which means I should care.
I agree that people should care and express their beliefs, but that logic fails.

A direct counter: I can not care, therefore I should not care.

Its an equally valid statement if you assume a can-should connection. Clearly both can not be the correct course of action at the same time as they are antagonistic in every way. A person is capable of both for every situation. Thus one can not justify actions of a person using that statement.

A better statement would be "I care, therefore I should care." This is a statement that is more logically valid. It uses a is-should connection rather than a can-should connection. Using the care example it is easy to see the difference in statements. A person can care, and a person can not care, but they can not be in a state of caring and not caring on a specific issues at the same time. Thus that logical inconsistency is fixed by removing that pesky "can".

Holes can still be poked in it, but it becomes a much more difficult statement to counter with that one little change. Even if someone pokes the holes into it it is still a logically valid statement.

I'd rather convince someone to have an open mind and to at least consider alternative points of view. A world full of people who think like me sounds like hell.

If facts aren't involved, I'd never try to convince someone that their opinion was wrong. Each to their own, as long as there's mutual respect. For the same reason, I will bitterly argue with anyone asserting that their opinion is the only valid one, if only to highlight the potential flaws in their position and force them to prove its merits before trying to impose it on others.

Usually i don't, but i care about correctness.

I usually won't claim anything about something i know little about (Instead i ask someone who might know), but if someone tells me something i know to be wrong i will correct them. And if they keep going about them being right when i know they're not i usually smack them on the head.

To clarify on the topic: Why do you care about... anything? Religion, ideals, favorite ice cream flavor, ANYTHING! Why do people argue and not let others just have their opinions about stuff? You tell me, why do YOU care enough to try to convince others that you are right? (I'm not talking about convincing others of facts, personal ideals being discussed here.)
i care about my girlfriend because i love her
i care about my family because i love them
i care about my friends because they and i have been through a lot
and i care about changing the world for the better because i want to give back to the folks who i care about

I'll often debate something like religion or politics for fun, but I'll only truly argue to convince the other person when I consider they're beliefs to be harmful to themselves or others.
