Because they're fun, and I defend them because I'd prefer if people could understand and enjoy them, as well.

That's good enough, isn't it?

The simple fact of fun. I love gaming because it allows me to live out the various fantasies I've had. Sports, violent, or otherwise. I tend to project myself into games these days, with a memory short enough to forget all the times I have screwed up.

Because they are a moment of fun in a dreary world of work and worry.
And because every once in awhile, games give the world things like this--

Video games have always been a big part of my life. They provide me with entertainment, a lot of them get me immersed into the worlds within, and give me a sense of accomplishment when I finally beat one.

It's a real shame that there are so many people out there who look down on video games and the people who play them. They are truly missing out on a medium that takes storytelling and immersion to a level movies can only hope to achieve. So until the day video games become completely accepted within our culture, and everyone accepts them, I will defend them.

I love gaming because it helps me relax. Nothing to me is more calming the beating the crap out of any number of various monsters, and nothing fuels my mind like watching other people do things that are awesome. It helps with my writing, you know?

Reason I love: because real life sucks... Why would I want to pay taxes and work 40 hour weeks with payed holiday vacation when I can use a big ass sword to cut millions of demonic minions and then kill a massive, cool looking boss followed by a pretty sweet cutscene.

And my defense against the bullshit about violent games being targeted to kids: Because there are these things called PARENTS who can decide what games their children get. Thats why a person under 17 can't buy an M rated game without an adult.
