Why do you fear death?

I reckon when we die, a big black screen will pop up with the words "GAME OVER" written in massive, red letters.

Seriously though, I'm petrified of death. Once your family and friends forget you, you cease to exist. I hate that idea. Everything you've spent your life achieving (if you're a normal person and not a super-genius or something) will be forgotten and, really, pointless and meaningless.

Death is also so goddamn final. There's no going back. Yet...so many people don't seem to realise, going through their lives thinking that they're invincible, which is why so many people drive like idiots, etc.

But you never really appreciate what you've got until you're on the brink of, or already have done, losing it all. That only really happens in death. I'm scared of getting to the end and having regrets, wishing I'd done things differently or...been more blunt and forthright...but you just gotta live life the way you believe is right, at the time =/

I'm not really afraid as I am worried. I don't want to die until I've done all that I want to do. So it's not a fear so much as I just don't want to die until I'm done.

Because I am extremely curious as to what will come. I can't accept that I will not be part of that. Fear is the wrong word I guess. I'm just worried about it.

We are but one in mind only, our physical forms remain seperate. The greatest of tragedies is that we are unable to be closer.
Riiiiiight.

In the end, life is all I have, naturally I fear losing it.

If death turns out to be better (which I rather doubt), great, but I'm not going to stop fearing the end to everything I know based on something I don't.

I don't fear death, I fear dying.
This. Being dead is just that, dead, nothing, nada. It's the process of dying that scares me. If it's slow and painfull or quick and painless, or any combination, once you're dead it's all over.

I do not fear death, for my life has, as short as it still is right now, been fun, and I know that it may be so that all of my achievements will probably go to waste. But I wont have to be there to see it.

Still I would like to end this life, knowing that I did something that makes a difference.
It might just be the only real goal in life, to make sure you are remembered.
But I would rather have fun, than forgetting all about fun and trying to do something "great" in the eyes of others, Life my own life, not caring too much about anyone else.

Death closes all: but something ere the end
Some work of noble note, may yet be done,
Not unbecoming men that strove with Gods.

People fear death because it is an unknown. It is also the potential end of our existence and our natural survival instinct makes us want to live. If people didn't fear death we'd do stupid things and get killed more easily so nature has giving us a genetic fear.

I fear death because I don't like the idea of not existing anymore. Of course I wont know that I don't exist..but I still don't like the idea of it. Also I do not fear dying, only the non-existence after death.

I'm sorry, but everyone saying that they don't fear death are telling porkies, everyone fears death. Sure, I don't fear the actual dying part, but I fear not living anymore, I hate the thought of leaving my family and what they will feel like when they hear I'm dead. I also feel sorry for the person who has to tell them if the situation calls for it, nobody should carry that burden.

It's not the thought that death is inevitable, it's how I will die that I fear...My biggest fear is being buried alive...

I'm not afraid of the death part of it, I'm afraid of the pain and suffering that is possible on my way there. After that, death should be a relief.

Even in death I still serve.
Life a prison, death a release. I do not fear death.
