You just have to keep your mind open to all the possibilities, Therumancer. Everything isn't likely to get better at once, but your girlfriend could suddenly discover you're completely irresistible, you could get a better paying job, you could get hit in traffic by someone with a lot of money, or, more likely, it'll be a nice day and at least you can stay reasonably warm. One out of the four, it was worth getting up.

To go to school and meet my friends. Mainly the latter one. I`ve learned that good things don`t always last that long so you better take every chance you get, otherwise you`ll regret it later in your life (and you won`t be given any chances if you just lay in bed).
