Why I dislike EA is because their ideals run contrary to my ideals.
They try to force and control everything about their property in ways I find egregious. I understand not owning a product, but they have been championing this... 'you're renting our property for as long as we see fit' mentality. This 'You are under the subjection of our code, and if we even think you are going against it, we will terminate you' mentality.
I believe owning a copy isn't trying to own the ip. And I believe everyone at EA believes the same thing. If anyone from the Butcher who cuts their meat to the company produces their toilets came in saying that they weren't using the products in their homes as they intended and took away said products... they would sue. You purchase a product, you own the product. You don't own the idea. you don't own the ip. That's the same reason why we have copyrights. The extra steps that EA takes to try to have more control over their stupid games and force us to pay however or whatever the costs they decide borders on the ridiculous.
And 'stupid games' is my opinion, but is not out of anger. Their production has gone downhill. Maybe there are CEOs on the higher levels they do not game, but they try to bland all the games to the point that most are not satisfied. Point of fact, I have never heard of a gamer being happy for streamlining. Yet companies do it all the time.
And lastly, they do not seem to want to take risks any more. The EA touch saps games of originality.
The developers might be the mouth piece, but honestly, what person would say while they are still under the employ of other 'Hey, we liked our original image, but the upper ups said we had to change it.'
