Why do YOU hate racism?

For all of my hatred for racism, I don't actually encounter that much of it.
Until I got a friend from London on Live and I heard his friends talking like hillbillies.

From referring to Indian people as Pakis, to saying fucking retarded things like "we fight for slanty eyes" whilst playing as the Japanese on CoD:WaW.

This type of stuff makes my blood boil because it's just so stupid, it's pointless, which is to say, it has no actually reason to even be uttered.

I mean, the moment I heard that retard say "we fight for slanty eyes" I just wanted to yell: What does that even fucking mean!?! Do you even know what you're fucking talking about?! You idiot!?!"

What did I actually say? "Because racism is so charming..."

You guys ever get like this? Why do you hate racism?

We are? I mean the continents are drifting apart. Hence some places will have stronger sun disposal, and other less. Therefor there'll still be diffrent skin colors. Right?

The reason I hate it is kinda the same as OP. It's ridicioulus. And makes no real sence to be a jerk about someone just because their skin is a diffrent color than yours. It's like disliking someone because they have grey eyes. No sence at all ..

Actually, multiple skin colours will still occur... we'll just have more random variables in our genes in the future, is all.

Which is to say, once we've all got the genes of everything in us, our children will have random skin colours.

I grew up in a place with a lot of explicit racism and antisemitism. I don't like it because it hurts people by either leading to explicit discrimination or hateful actions, a refusal of support, failure to give folks the benefit of the doubt, and a tendency to just see what folks are doing as less valuable. That being said, most of the folks who I knew were racist were that way because that's how they were raised. They weren't bad people to begin with. I know one lady who works three social work jobs. In her spare time she takes care of four people with disabilities who don't qualify for state aid. One of them lives with her now. I asked her who she was supporting for the Superbowl (big deal in US). The two teams were from Arizona and Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is the local team, but the quarterback (most visible leadership position) was Jewish. She said she was rooting for Arizona because the Pittsburgh quarterback's nose was too big. I kid you not - she really said that.


Sorry, long post. Now, I live in an area where a lot of people are still racist but not on purpose. So they still don't give people of color the benefit of the doubt, but they're totally unaware of it for the most part. It still hurts people.

Right. In millions of years after our bodies adapt to the amount of sunlight, and becomes a permanent part of your genetics. People in south america who live in the equator have only been ther for 20 000 years. In another million or so they should start lookin more african.

Thiosk, I used to say this but I disagree now. The trouble is that we collectively make race norms that people end up reacting to when you're not really thinking. So for example, TV might show you ten-thousand black people committing violent crimes. Then, some poor shlub of a police officer freaks out when arresting a black guy and thinks he's sees a gun when he's taking out a wallet. He shoots the innocent kid for being in the wrong place at the wrong time and looking like the people on TV (happened in New York a few months ago, and I don't think it was the first time). It's a tragedy, but what do you do? I mean, he really thought he saw a gun, and was he supposed to critically reflect on the stereotypes in media in the like .3 seconds he had to react? This is a lot of how racism operates. I personally think you still yell at the guy and make a big stink about it. How else are you going to get this stuff in the public consciousness?

So, no, I'd say hating racists isn't quite the same thing. Hating rednecks...maybe, but there isn't as much history so you're probably not doing as much damage.

But yeah, the penis thing is totally immature. The gut reaction might be noble, but it's not informed.
