Why do YOU hate racism?

One of the reasons I find racism stupid is that people don't actually acknowledge how many races there are- by their ignorance they assume that a person with dark skin is the same as any other, etc, when in fact there are dozens of races within a skin colour- Polish people and Italians are completely different races, yet they're both considered white!

Not trying to say that racism should be smarter- it's one of the most ignorant outlets for anger I can think of- but it gives people who aren't racist a skewiffed (yes, British) perception of what defines race, putting even more people in the dark. Why should a few people have the wrong understanding of something as complex and diverse as race distorted simply because a select group of people preach their own beliefs on it?

So that makes it ok to be a little prick and spout offensive hate speech? Great! So people who have been taught from birth that black people are bad are totally justified, just like people who have been taught from birth to believe that everyone who isn't their religion should be slaughtered... as long as you are trained to believe that people are scum of the earth from birth... its totally fine!

It makes me giggle that you accuse me of an inability to read.
No, that's my reason. Just like how those guys blame being racist on THEIR upbringing.

They've got their views and reactions and I've got my views and my reactions. By the way, I didn't actually say that, you know? It's what I wanted to say, because I was angry, yeah?

I had enough politeness and sense to not say it.

I'm angry at some guys I hear on Live every now and again, yelling racial slurs. I've even tried telling them how pointless it all is, no effect. Sigh...

I believe everyone is equal, I'm not overly zealous about it but I believe that everyone is unique themselves and that colour should not affect our views on them.

Not a racist, but what I dislike are people who are super-righteously-angered by racial jokes.

"We fight for slanty eyes", yes, it's crude and demeaning, but it's just another crude and demeaning joke. Just because it happens to demean Oriental Asiatics instead of women or the conservative party or rednecks dosen't make it any worse.

For all of my hatred for racism, I don't actually encounter that much of it.
Until I got a friend from London on Live and I heard his friends talking like hillbillies.

From refering to Indian people as Pakis, to saying fucking retarded things like "we fight for slanty eyes" whilst playing as the Japanese on CoD:WaW.

This type of stuff makes my blood boil because it's just so stupid, it's pointless, which is to say, it has no actually reason to even be uttered.

I mean, the moment I heard that retard say "we fight for slanty eyes" I just wanted to yell: "WHAT THE FUCK DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?! You're just being insulting and mean spiried because you think it'll make you cool, right?! You fucking sad little ****, I'll beat you to death with your own severed 2 inch cock if you even breath in my direction ever again!"

What did I actually say? "Because racism is so charming..." Which was sarcastic, by the way.

You guys ever get like this? Why do you hate racism?
Well, in the case of Japan in WW2 games, given that real life Japan refuses to accept its guilt in war crimes, I'm more likely to remain silent on the issuing of those comments, although I do doubt that they really are smart enough to notice the difference between "Japanese" and "Chinese".

Anywho, given I don't have CoD: WaW, I don't encounter this problem, and I wouldn't utter or be racist about anyone anyway. It pisses me off greatly when I see dick heads on the ingame chat on various games saying things like "Fag", "Nigga", and so forth. It pisses me off because a) its unnecessary hate-talk, b) its a game, I come here to relax, I shouldn't have racist crap thrown around because they want to be dick heads, and c) it prompts the idea that its ok to be racist - agmonst the dickheads at least.

I hate racism so much because they hate others. The fact that those people hate others for reasons they consider justified makes me hate them so much. The only way to handle those people is to hate them and act upon that hatred so one day they will realize how much people hate them and go away.

Cheers.

It just proves how ignorant people truely are. Now I get why the recruitment into racist gangs goes up
(ex:Black kid gets beat by white kids, joins gang to not get beat up, beats up white kids, white kids join gangs to beat up black kids, and so on and so forth)
But come on there is no real reason to be racist anyway its just stupidity.

It stops being stupidity when hate crimes happen.

I dont really go beserk when people scream over in whatever online game you playing."Fucking Niggers!" sure I get upset cause I'm playing a game and dont need to hear that crap, but thats what the mute button is for, or server mods. I do go beserk when theres still people that kill other human beings cause they have diferent skin colour.

Yeah I never got this whole egocentric suppresion people have around these jokes, I mean they go both ways who hasn't heard an non-pc joke about every race/religion/colour of hair. I mean it's not racist if it happens to everyone in equal amounts.

I dislike racism for two reasons. One is because being Racist is a complete waste of energy and moronically backwards way of thinking. The other reason is people (like the op) who go MENTAL if they think a person might be saying something slightly racist, seriously the irrationally proportioned hatred of racism is annoying as hell.

The whole double standards (Dark skinned people can use the 'n' word but light skinned people can't, which in itself is racist because your acknowledging that what you are allowed to do it based on your skin colour) is slightly annoying too, but hey.

Racist jokes on the other hand, can be funny as funk. Most seem to have the right combination of 'funny' and 'shock factor' to just make people laugh like mad. Some can go a bit far admittedly and then it stops being funny, but within reason they're just dark humour.

I always get the feeling that people who are hyper-sensitive to racism just react so strongly to it because they actually have suppressed racist tendencies deep down. Going mental at actual physical/emotional bullying caused by race is natural, going mental because someone said 'paki' just screams "I have issues!" to me.

I hate racism because it's a distraction from the real problem is the negative aspects of cultures at odds with one another.

We all have no choice in our birth.

We have the ability to change habits and choose cultural aspects singularly. Before I get a smug pseudo-intellectual telling me it's not easy, I know sometimes it's not.

That being said, I'm always preferentially trusting of nerds without regard to race, and the distrusting of gangstas, thugs, and frat boys.

Oh, and anyone who lyrically appreciates Tool/APC I know I can click with.

Yeah that happens alot, best idea is to attack them with common sense. Sometimes fifteen minutes of reasoning is all it takes to make someone feel bad about themselves, the trick is to stay calm, be consistant and occasionally play on area's of insecurity.

When that was on the news I was completely appalled.

Appalled by how foolishly petty it was on the part of the accusers, due to the knowledge of how often FAR WORSE things are said regularly said, both in anger and in endearment, over there in military bases/outposts/etc.

although not overly fond of anybody who goes about proclaming that their race is superior (irrespecive of colour)some things have to be taken in context. i shout abuse at the xbox when i die trying to complete the campaing mode on cod4, (on expert, 2 months and trying, damm you missile silo corridors) but does that make me a racist? what i say in the privacy of my own home would never be said to people in the street, even though what i say at home would be construed as deeply offensive. that bloke taking the piss out of the japanese probabaly wouldnt say stuff like that to an asian bloke in the street

Just like that racist guy was caught up in the moment trying to be cool, I was getting caught up in the moment, being infuriated by his stupidity.

I never declared that I hate racists, but I hate their racism. Ya get me?

I'm assuming you're looking for something other than "it's wrong". :)

I hate racism because it's disgustingly counter-productive. Holding something against someone based on their skin color, upbringing, accent, nationality, whatever...

It really makes no sense if you really think about it. These are factors no one has control over, and judging someone based on factors about themselves they cannot control is really ignorant.

It is based on an 'us versus them' mindset (which can be common on military bases, for that reason). I try to give a pass on the latter regard, because our soldiers are defending freedoms and when on base are actively in the "us and them" arena. Catch most of them with their families and they likely bear little ill will towards other groups.

Most racial issues today are misunderstandings, I believe. The bottom line is that all members of a 'race' are individually very different, and some are much more racially sensitive than others. When some things happen, the sensitive people take offense, turning it into an "us versus them" issue, and that draws in many who wouldn't otherwise really care.

I like Glenn Beck's notion of fighting racism: "Why hate people you don't even know? Meet them, get to know them, and let them get to know you so you can find legitimate reasons to annoy each other!" :)

I only had to read up to that point and already knew what you were going for. Most racism I see is coming from Great Britain. I don't know what the hell's wrong with them, but they seem to be the most racist people on earth. They've gone so far I don't ever play with Britons any more because I can't stand this shit any more. Funnily enough, they're the one's who shout NAZI the first.

What makes me hate it is the fact that it's just a simple excuse not to think - and everyone knows it's bullshit.
