Why do you hate the Alliance or the Horde?

Camp Tarajo and King Varian Wrynn were the final straws for me. Mind you, I was SO pissed off and ashamed about the Stonetalon quest line, so it's definitely not one-sided. The plot recently has made me disillusioned with BOTH sides. Although, Garosh's reaction made me actually like him a little bit. I'm such a Thrall fangirl, though. I'm a Sylvanas fangirl, too.

Also, I've been playing since vanilla, so I still have a bit of the "fewer, skilled Horde players and young, annoying Alliance players" prejudice. I realize that it isn't true anymore, but I can't help it. D:

On my server, I also can't take five steps as a female character Alliance side without getting creepy whispers, but my female Orc never gets pestered, so there's that.

Once again, I realize that I'm biased, but this is just a bit of my thought process as to WHY I'm illogically biased.

I went with Horde when I started playing WoW mostly because my friend who got me playing in the first place also went Horde. After being ganked and corpse camped by high level Alliance players, I developed a bit of a prejudice towards the faction.

Then I tried my hand playing as an Alliance player on a different server. After being ganked and corpse camped by high level Horde players, I realized that there were jerks on both factions.

I don't play WoW anymore though, so it doesn't matter to me one way or another.

Play as a Human Mage though....so you probally know the reason behind the whole shamen, belf and rogue hate..we're just too flimsy against practically everyone.
What!? Mages are insane at the moment. I have no idea about Shamans but, being a Rogue, I know how draining a 1v1 versus a Mage is. I would even argue that Mages have more tools to take us out with. I think they should be nerfed, personally. Although next patch they're getting buffed. You even have a Jedi Mind Trick ability, that being you can make Warriors alt+f4 right in front of you without even doing anything!

I am vehemently anti-Alliance because the humans are racist imperialists, the dwarves do nothing to stop the humans from ruining Azeroth, and the Night Elves are eco-terrorists. All else are subjects at best, slaves at worst. The Draenei also hate the orcs with an undying passion knowing FULL WELL they only fought because of demonic control.

As for the Horde, the undead are blatantly evil and the new warchief Garrosh Hellscream is leading the Horde to ruin, so I now hate both factions with equal fervor.

I play a Draenei though, because my friend invited me to his guild on the Alliance side. I just roleplay that I'm a factionless merc and the Alliance pays me better.

Honestly it boils down to they are the enemy we hate them, they kill us sometimes. Really its not much of a problem now thanks to the fact that blizzard added the function that you can have a guy on both sides now.

Personally for me I always was a horde man, preferring the races and starting areas. As I spent time playing, though, I discovered why I truly hate the alliance. (Real quick I always play on PvP servers) Alliance are NEVER alone, and as a person I value honor above all else when considering an engagement. This behavior is explainable though, horde are known 1-man gankers and also tend to be the better of the two when it comes to PvP, at least from my experience. This experience starting at Vanilla btw, although I've finally permanently quit.

For the Horde!

Actually, i don't know why i am for the horde...
Maybe because all my friends who were playing before me played horde so when i joined i didn't want to play on the other side? That's most likely it. Dranei are pretty sweet imo.

From a purely lore perspective, the Horde races seem to be more sympathetic than the Alliance races. They're either a slave race recently freed from some "Great Evil" trying to find their place in a new world, or an old race befallen by tragedy trying to find a permanent homeland. Doesn't really help either that the Humans from the Alliance are racist assholes. I mean, is it just a staple of most RPGs featuring Humans and a variety of other races that the Humans are the most bigoted? Seriously, in many cases it seems like some racist human high in the chain of command just went out of their way to wrong every Horde race in the past. And then they're only labeled as misguided rather than called out on it.

I've almost always played Alliance, though up until about a year ago I would've said I dislike the Alliance more than the horde. But despite the stereotyping, the Alliance has become more mature recently - you could almost say that the average age has been raised to...dare I say twenty? (But then again, that might just be my realm, although I doubt it.)

The Horde are still generally more mature, but I'd also have to argue that I see A LOT more ninja looting when playing H"orde side, which annoys me substantially more than a few immature people who I can just ignore. Therefore I prefer the Alliance to the Horde right now.

Mostly a holdover from Classic when the Alliance, which on the surface appear to be the "Good" guys was mostly filled with younger or more immature players and while the Horde attracted the "social misfits," for lack of a better term, due to the back story of their races, having been cast out by the Alliance for various reasons. The band of social misfits came together around a fictional group and now both sides may encompass all demographics, but the Horde has a battle cry that, if yelled in a crowded place may actually get a response, and the Alliance has a series of race-specific sayings because let's face it, For the Alliance is no where near as cool as Lok'tar Ogar!

I played alliance, I also played Horde. One group is deemed full of n00bs and whiney little children(none of which I ever experienced on my server) the other was full of griefers whom would sit on a low level quest town for hours at a time killing all the quest givers and anyone whom just walked up. Guess which is which? I went on a revenge griefing once just cuz I was tired of being stalked by three horde players while hunting down titanium. Within a few minutes I got some low level alliance players popping up saying "We were just messing with you jerk, why'd you go and kill off our friends?" Really? So following around a paladin with a shaman, rogue, and priest and killing him every time he landed is considered alright, while when said paladin returns the favor and by himself runs off to kill several other horde players trying to level up to 80 in revenge is a disgrace?

a lot honestly deals with the realm you play on.I play on Blackwater Raiders and the Alliance side is well known for being heavily immature and asshole like but go to Sisters of Elune and it's different so really it has to do with the realm and plus your loyalty to faction

I only played as Blood Elf for a bit on a free trial, I got to level 20 and realised it was the most boring thing I had ever done.

So I have no idea.

I have been playing World of Warcraft for a few months, and one thing I have noticed is whenever I mention the fact that I play for the Alliance people scoff, roll their eyes at me, or made rude comments. Maybe it's because I have only been playing since last August, but I don't understand where all of these anti-Alliance feelings are coming from. So please clear the air for me.

Why are you anti-Alliance or Anti-Horde?
it has everything to do with servers. on mine horde outnumber us 25 to 1 do to the fact that the majority on my server are kids in at the very least high school(this is pure speculation on the fact that the majority of them arnt on weekdays between 8 am and 315pm) now ive played on realms were its the exact opisite. i realy dont give a shit if you play horde as long as it isnt on my server.(this is do to trash talk that ends with me jumping up and down on peoples corpses and them QQ for over 3 days:() to each there own i always say:)

When I played I preferred Alliance, although I had characters on both sides.

The entire 'For the Horde' chest-thumping just got on my nerves more often than not, and being a fan of the original games story, I found it hard to play a character which timeline-wise would have been murdering children around 20 years ago if I still remember the times right.
Yeah, I take some issue with this, too. I mean, the orcs were slaughtering innocent humans and in lore are actually kinda a sexist culture up until very recently, too. >.>
And the undead are, for the most part pretty damn evil. At best, indifferent and selfish. From what I've seen, the forsaken who are genuinely good are about as common as serial killers in reality.
For this reason, I've also never been able to bring myself to play a 'lock.

I like the tauren, though. In theory. I wouldn't mind having a brotherly tauren friend who would show me how to do herbalism or teach me to ride a kodo or something, but playing them... I can't relate to a giant cow with humanboobs.

I find humans and dwarves a bit boring and night elves a bit foreign for me, but I can get behind draenei for their lore and I like gnomes for their being the segue into the scifi bits of WoW. I bet I'd find goblins pretty enjoyable, but the worgen just seem to contrived.

But on the OP's matter, I must agree with others in saying its people just following the "Us and them" mentality, based on the fact that they slapped slogans and flags to the game mechanics. If they actually did care about the story in the least bit, tauren would despise the forsaken and draenei would be weird with druids and shamans, and more likely PVP with a 'lock than a tauren.

I played W.o.W a lot since it's release, then took a break, now I am leveling up a character slowly and whenever I feel like it.

I've played both factions - and I enjoyed both. Personal preference? I prefer leveling Horde because their characters are just more mystical and fantasy-based. Especially as a Tauren. I love Kodos. Nearly everything on the Alliance side is fleshy and pink (or light purple),..except the Worgen as of Cataclysm. I did play a lot of Alliance however, mostly as a gnome, then as a dwarf hunter - then as a Draenei. But really, I am a human, why would I play one in a fantasy game? Or something that looks exactly like a human but lacks height. The choice just seems boring to me. But really, both factions are a necessity to the story. Love them or hate them, they are always going to be there.

I don't really care for people who freak out about either side like girls over boybands.
I just can't put that much personal feeling into two factions that aren't even real.
