And things like charity don't exist? Nope, we are all evil because some people do or have done bad things.
It's not that people don't do good things (although I would say charity is not the best example. If we're going to be cynical, let's be honest: the majority of money that goes to charity is for selfish reasons, such as tax write-offs and social condescension. The money still gets there, which is good, but the people themselves [at least most] are not), it's that the good seems to be too little too late, all the time. And I know the media don't portray things in a positive fashion, and most people blame negative outlook on that, but it's mostly the things I
don't see on the news that really bother me.
You sound like a video game villain. "To cleanse the world, we must destroy humanity! Mwahahahaha!".
Well, yeah. I'm not going to "cleanse the world." I won't even try. My intention is not to harm people; i wouldn't go around murdering people. That would be exhibiting the same behavior that I've grown to detest and expect from people. I don't want anybody to die, it would just be nice if they stopped making new ones.
And my happiness is not an illusion.
The idea is more that, if you're happy with the world at any given moment, there's something you don't know (or choose to ignore) that would change your mind. There are happy people, but I think they're only happy due to a lack of information that would make them otherwise miserable.
You, however, could use a little.
You're probably right, although I'm not entirely miserable. I strive more for contentedness rather than happiness. I don't necessarily think
my life sucks, I just think life sucks in general.
